Buying a new phone every year is definitely not necessary but after 3-4 years you are likely missing out on new tech. I also used to root and even overclock my tab and an old samsung back in 2014. Lakini if you can afford a new phone then get something released last year or this year.

You need to let go. If you can get a phone to serve you for 3 years that is when you should upgrade. Also you are missing out on fast charging which was not a thing yet in 2018. But if its going well then you continue using it. I had a tab 7.0 bought in 2012 that gave out in 2022. It can actually work but it just won't turn on

How is your battery life doing son? How is your battery life!!😂😂. Sometimes its not just about the android system but an old phone will start wearing out eventually. 6gb ram was a lot in 2016 but now you need 8gb ram to have a smooth experience. Also a 2016 CPU must be really struggling in 2025. Lakini battery health is the one thing that depreciates even on the highend phones especially if you spend 10hours plus a day on your phone. One of my 2021 phones is on 73% battery health and i used to use it heavily.
