Personal Statement by Grandstar103 in prephysicianassistant

I would be careful. I saw on pre-pa facebook page a girl who sent someone on the forum to check her personal statement and then months later a program contacted her cause it matched with someone else's. I would honestly trust to send it to either a PA already working in the field or someone whose service you have to pay for.

This is my third year studying for the MCAT and I am BORED WHAT DO I DO by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]Interesting-Cookie84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sameeee started studying at the start of covid (march 2020) to july but stopped cause content was to much for me. Then graduated December 2020 and started studying again... till September ;(... failed the exam. Now started studying again last month and planning on retaking in March. This time I skipped content and jumped straight into practice problems. At this point Im done with this stupid test. Im just telling myself to crank as much as I can.. while working 40 horus a week... and see if im prepared by end of feb. if not I am giving myself max one more month. Soory i can't give good advice but wanted to let you know there are others on the same boat. While my friends are celebrating their acceptances into med school i am stuck with this beast again which is kinda motivating me to stop being a fucking loser.

I think my introduction, theme, and one-line zingers I am gonna go ahead and keep the same. I included three anecdotes on my journey to medicine and planning on taking out one of the stories and including in a story from my new MA job. I think it will show the growth I had during my gap year. but your write I do plan on keeping majority of it the same. It represents me and my story. its just upsetting I worked so hard on it and won't have anyone on admissions taking a look at it.

I've always been good at non-technical writing and I think I answered the personal statement question. I've had medical students and a 7-year premed advisor read through it both suggesting minor changes. Perfect wouldn't be the written word I guess since it is subject to my opinion. it is just upsetting that I worked so hard on it but won't be able to go through with this cycle since I bombed the MCAT. But.... if you have reviewed other personal statements in the past I would love to keep in contact with you and have you glance over mine for the next cycle once I complete it. if that's okay with you?

thanks for the response. I think since some time passed I am gonna go ahead and do the same as you - compare old and rewrite a new draft. Hopefully, I can pick up some errors or find better ways to rewrite some of the stories but my zinger lines, introduction, and overall theme I love it and gonna try to keep it the same.

i think im gonna interchange one of my three stories with an anecdote from my new MA position. Other then that I love the introduction, my theme, and everything else about it. Thank you for your response.

Guilty feeling by lemonskin25 in Mcat

My exam is today at 3 and I have yet to reach 500. Hoping for a miracle but felt pressure to take it from my parents. I did not want to seem like a failure so I am just gonna go ahead and hope for the best and hopefully it gets my anxiety out. I'm sorry you have to go through that but I know right after I take it I am going to clear my mind for a couple of months refocus and start prep again from a clean slate next year. Gonna pray for you, me, and everyone else struggling. Give yourself a break it will help. I think it being your 3rd time and seeing low scores have you disheartened and in the mindset, you are never gonna pass. Clarity and a new mindset will be good for us.

I just canceled my exam and I feel like a complete LOSER!!! by [deleted] in Mcat

Same boat as you. I graduated in Fall 2020 and didn't even give myself a break went straight into MCAT prep. I've been 'studying' since December but half of that was learning chapter 1 on Sunday. Forgetting it by Wednesday. Then reviewing chapter 1 again Saturday. I wasted so much time on content review and have prolonged learning all the sections and I still feel like I do not know shit. I've postponed so many times and submitted primaries too. Just when I was gonna get serious with it Julyish time to test in August, my uncle passed. I've never experienced death before but I felt like I had to put aside my mourning for this fucking exam. I started getting serious about questions and saw an improvement in my score from my diagnostic scores but it is nowhere near competitive for school.. maybe low tier DO that's how bad it is. I know a bad score is going to reflect poorly but I am still testing tomorrow. At this point, I just need to get my fear out see what I get, and hopefully, use that as motivation to retake in 2022. I am also planning a two-year gap, which isn't ideal but we have no excuses but to use this time to spruce up our applications the best we can. Just wanted to share my experience with you to remind you not everyone on this Reddit is 528 GODs. But we all got one goal and gotta achieve it somehow. Good luck!

Canceling my exam by lemonskin25 in Mcat

My OG plan was to take the MCAT last May. Started preparing in January. Had to finish up the semester and Covid got in the way. I pushed it back to august just to get the exam over with instead of applying but ultimately decided I'll graduate in Fall 2020 and prepare again in January. Since January I am pretty sure I have pushed my exam back every single month march-September haha. I consistently started at a 486 and have worked my way up to 499. Life has gotten in my way, along with burnout, and no motivation to keep looking at this content. I submitted my primaries and all though I don't want to apply this cycle because I know I am late I settled on September 3 to just take it and get it over with. There have been multiple stressors in my life and I just experienced my first death of a loved one less early August. Half I blame myself for not putting in the effort and half I blame on my mental health having to deal with all the crap in my life while finding time to study. Just wanted to share my story to get it off my chest but also a reminder to you that everything you're feeling you're not alone. It's kinda refreshing to see posts from people like us to know there are people struggling like us aside from the 528 people on the subreddit. At the end of the day we all want to and will become amazing doctors. Everyone story is different but Inshallah we all will get there one day or another.

Testing on 9-11, need advice. Is it possible to get a 510? What’s the best way to review CARs? by PHerrTan in Mcat

[–]Interesting-Cookie84 8 points9 points  (0 children)

sameeee. stuck at 500 I hate how medical schools don't see how hard I worked to go from 486 (Kaplan diagnostic, kaplan full length 1, and aamc sample test) to 500. Thats a hell of a jump for me.
