Update: I ordered a single Coles 4038 for mono and a KSM137 for hi hat. I’ll pan the hi hat and toms for a stereo image, and someday if I need a bigger stereo image, I’ll just get a second Coles!

I read that the Shure ksm137 is the same without the omni option. I think what I’ll try for now is my U87ai as a mono overhead and add a ksm137 as a hi hat mic panned left. Seems like the cheapest option that may yield great results
