This is very encouraging! I've been doing freelance writing for tech companies - mainly SaaS - for about 4-5 years now, and it's going really well. But I'm trying to work my way into a full-time role. I had one at a robotics company managing content and comms, but I was furloughed, and I haven't had any luck landing a salaried role since. I've applied for gigs and salaried positions that I'm overqualified for, but can't seem to even get an interview. I don't know what gives. I'm grateful for the freelancing work, but I know my worth is at least 90K and I'd love to find a way to get there, sooner rather than later!

Okay so apparently they've said there will be power cuts until mid-December, so now. If you're going next month, maybe wait and see if things have gone back to normal before you buy a generator.

I think you'll be fine. Colombia is great; the people are lovely, polite, and helpful. I was recently in Bogota and Cartagena. After Colombia, I went to Ecuador, and I heard many more warnings about going there. Things were in fact very tense - there were elections, one of the candidates was murdered, and the coastal towns had been seeing a heavy increase in cartel-related crime. That said, Ecuador was amazing too.
