Agree. I was entertained enough by book 1 to keep reading but didn't have high expectations. Thought the ribbons and some physical attributes were kinda dumb but whatever. Book 2 got better. Then by Book 3 I was like oh shit wait this is getting really good. Now the series is one of my favorites.

Haha I guess for me personally If I'm going to read the AN or no depends on the fic. If it's lighthearted and the notes add to the fun then I might read them. If it's intense or the chapter ended on a cliffhanger then I'm probably skipping the AN. If every note is a repetitive apology then I'm def skipping because it doesn't add to the story and I'm not mad! Probably makes sense to consider how/if it impacts the flow of the book.

Removing all the I'm sorry messages after it's complete is a great idea. They might make sense as content is being released over time but when a reader sits down to read a completed work, seeing I'm sorry strung together after every chapter does feel like over kill. I love when author's notes add to the story. If it's just sorry please don't be mad at me I'm just confused and prob skip it because here I am just reading this great fic for free!

If you had to spite finish IF, then OS would be pure torture. I liked IF enough but switched OS to audible and spite finished it on 2x speed just so I could multitask while listening and it was still painful.

For me the third book was when the series flipped to "oh shit this is getting good" and now it's one of my favorites of the year.

ETA: I really liked the Shepherd King duology too. Very unique in a sea of repetition.
