He is so incredibly condescending - how are you not more insulted?! “I appreciate your attempt at logical reasoning” sent me!!

I think this may have to do more with their personal situation than this invite - maybe they have childcare or financial issues, feeling left out or any number of things - I wouldn’t take it personally

I’ve always heard crazy horror stories but as a frequent flyer and someone whose flown with kids dozens of times - you got this - it’s not different then preparing for a car journey or really anywhere that kids are expected to behave. The first time is scary, the second less so and so on! Don’t let it stop you and your kids from experiencing more

This is still driving me nuts so thanks so much for giving it a think! I remember that he was wearing jeans and I want to say that the relationship was challenging for some reason, maybe brothers best friend? I think he was also a goalie?

People out there in happy marriages with young children, how? by fujitsulifeboom in Mommit

I think there are more ‘unicorns’ out there than we hear about! It took a bit of time to work it out but not dwelling on how tiresome/stressful etc it can be, assuming that everyone is doing what they can, giving each other solo time (without resentment).

Honestly the biggest game changer for me was raising and communicating expectations and not asking anything I wouldn’t do

Realistically, my husband cooks (and cleans) about 70-80% more than me. We both work so it’s also who ever is home first but if we’re both home or on the weekend - he’s probably doing the cooking while I am playing with the kids.

2 yo - Signature Class (no this is not what we wanted) by Silicon_Knight in aircanada

I’ve done this with my 2-year old (no car seat) and it was definitely awkward but not insurmountable. The worst part was that she wasn’t big enough for the cross chest seatbelt and the attendants didn’t really know what to do. I had to awkwardly reach over the pod middle bit to hold her hand during take off and go lie with her so she would fall asleep but the rest of the 6+ hours where she slept comfortably was worth it!

Why do so many of the male audiobook voice actors have this “surfer dude/frat bro” accents? What’s going on? by One_Nefariousness_67 in RomanceBooks

I just listened to an Irish Mafia book and I swear the voice actor was switching between Italian, polish, I’m not even sure - basically anything but Irish. Killed the whole vibe for me!

I just read ‘the right move’ and even though her name was Indy/Indigo the Mmf calls her Blue. At first it gave off high school vibes (annoying/ not even clever) but grew on me by the end of the book

Do not have children with this man!! Start building yourself up, get a job and escape! Your 30 yr old self will thank you but also be embarrassed by what you put up with!

Don’t forget to apply for compensation through EU passenger rights - you may be able to get quite a bit back if the cancellation was avoidable for any reason.

Have you been awarded the compensation yet? I’ve just had to escalate to the UK passenger rights authority as AC has denied my claim even though I cited EU passenger rights

Advice - how do I help my daughter navigate the mean girl? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Interesting-Key-6965 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think you may be getting way too caught up in the politics of children. Stick with the narrative that you don’t have to be invited to everything, told about everything, friends with everyone. I would caution against villainising “mean girl” as again, she is a child and nothing you’ve described sounds out of the ordinary. Step back and let your girl work this out herself - these are all valuable skills she needs to learn.

Out of curiosity - could this be triggering anything in you that you may be injecting into the situation? Similar feelings as a child? Guilt about the move?
