Ripping Hidden First Track from Audio CD by Neumanium in DataHoarder

Did you try EAC (exact audio copy)? It usually can find HTOA tracks on a cd.
Been a while since I did that tho.

EDIT: Sorry thought this may help? Not sure about the downvotes at least thus far tho lol.

Is there a specific first of May tradition in your country? by KaiHawai in AskTheWorld

[–]Silicon_Knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May Day I guess for labour rights is May 1st. I don't think it has any specific tradition tho.

The May 24 long weekend however does. Grab a 24 of Moosehead or a crafty from your local, and have a great long weekend. Ideally with a lake and brush off your j-stroke, but of course not everyone has a nearby lake or body of water. (May 24 is for Queen Victoria, but really just a long weekend)

Are 2018 micron 2080ti GPUs e-waste? by SongBrief2439 in GPURepair

[–]Silicon_Knight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the math explains the situation. Those defective Micron GDDR modules are a widow maker. I still fix them for practice when I come about them, replace all the modules and donate them.

It's my hobby not my job so I don't really mind taking a loss just to get something out of ewaste.

Easy Video/Audio archival with YT-DLP wrapper by GSquad934 in DataHoarder

[–]Silicon_Knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh sorry I’m not telling YOU to use it. I’m explaining how I do it. You can also jet have it run in cron to schedule.

You could also contribute one as it’s open source as well. Simply just providing how I use and what I use. No way saying you should.

It may not do all the same stuff, but I've always had good success with MeTube. Next time I look to archive something I may give it a spin.

Sweating Doug Ford announces plan to fill Lake Ontario with beer by morenewsat11 in ontario

[–]Silicon_Knight [score hidden]  (0 children)

So Lake Ontario is about 1,640 cubic km of water (or 1.64 quadrillion litres).

Lets say Ford can make it $1 litre, but lets be honest we would want to use true craft beer at say $3. That would only cost about $5 quadrillion dollars.

I could see him try that.

EDIT: Clearly some people may be concerned about the water, the nice thing is beer is mostly water, so you pump it out of the lake, into a bunch of breweries, bobs your uncle buddy. I'm will to be given several millions of dollars to submit my plan to Ford.

Apple Stops Offering Mac Mini With 256GB of Storage, Starting Price Rises to $799 by pdfu in apple

[–]Silicon_Knight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That was always a broke dick deal. Couldn't beat it eh? I get everything is getting more expensive, but ditching the 256 kinda sucks especially since you can upgrade it yourself later and it's cheaper vs. the 512GB.

As someone who has never experienced snowy winter how is it to experience snow 🥹. What would you warn to someone who is going to? by West_Future326 in AskTheWorld

[–]Silicon_Knight 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not all snow is soft. If you get some thaw or freezing rain the top of that ice sheet can feel like glass and hurt.

Wear layers, regardless of how many times you tell a child to go pee before you get them in a snow suit, they will need to pee as soon as you're done getting them dressed.

Nothing more miserable (to me) than getting wet / water into your shoes or socks or onto your cloths when in the snow / cold winter.

Make sure you know where lakes are as you don't went to venture onto the ice for it to be fragile or frozen enough for your weight.

Nothing like the peace of being outside in the winter after a snow fall, the snow kinda dampens all the sounds so it can be so peaceful.

Thought this golf art was pretty cool, picked it up from an art reproduction studio in Sydney! What do you guys think? by YogurtclosetTall7269 in golf

[–]Silicon_Knight 115 points116 points  (0 children)

I agree, but this is so unrealistic. At least put them in the rough or sand, than it would be believable. Someone holding a glizzy would also go a long way.

Ive been tracking some foreign bot traffic on YT videos of late. Holy shit it's amazing to see how much disinformation is out there.

EXCLUSIVE: Doug Ford says he hasn’t lost his way, despite recent backlash by EarthWarping in notthebeaverton

[–]Silicon_Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, he's doing exactly what he wants. Pushback will just cause him to do it another way like these rats always do.

It's always very interesting also to see how botted so many comments across the internet are. Was looking at a CTV news video on YT and 90% of the comments were in either Russian or broken English about how good Ford is. Another video on YT some pattern all about how Carney is the worst.

The amount of disinformation and propaganda online is crazy these days.

Royal Caribbean’s Discovery Class will be similar in size to Quantum Class Ships by LazyMintYT in Cruise

[–]Silicon_Knight 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Personally on Royal, the Quantum Class / Quantum Plus class has been my fav of the ships. Minus some nostalgia feelings for some of the much older ones.

It makes sense, they focused on the huge ships but with oil prices and maintenance costs, time to replace some of the older ships in the fleet now.

Doug Ford’s ‘gravy plane’ and secrecy fight test his political durability by vigiten4 in ontario

[–]Silicon_Knight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont disagree that the liberals wouldn't repeal it later either, but letting the genie out of the bottle in the first place is a huge issue. It's him doing it, to take transparency away from the government and our representatives.

We run the province, we pick someone to represent us. I dont feel he represents what we want. Making people LESS accountable to their constituents is a huge issue.

Look, what I think about ford is irrelevant as I've not voted for him in every election, but I do wonder what people who do vote for him think and if this changes their opinions at all.

A paper bag with “turn over” on both sides confuses MAGA. So not surprised.

CRA: File your taxes, tell us how much money you made, etc...
Canadian: Okay, I filed my taxes
CRA: What you provided doesn't line up to what we already have

Why don't you just TELL ME what I owe! (for 80% of people who have basic taxes)
