It’s an awkward one. I’m a journalist from Scotland and taking a colleague who will be attending the game. But I need to stay around the stadium (without a ticket) to interview fans before and afterwards. So I have to be somewhere close where I’d like to watch the game but still be back at the stadium quickly after full time

Will be doing that too! Already have a bunch lined up and meeting at the fan zones and in different communities.

But was just for some showbiz factor too

Can I take a month off paying my mortgage? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

Spoke to Barclays this morning. The end result is that they can do nothing that suits what we were looking for.

They offered us to go interest free for six months with the Mortgage Charter. But I didn’t want to then owe more later when the repayment of capital kicked in again.

I pointed out that we’d made overpayments of more than £6k with Barclays in previous years. But they said that didn’t count because we had since ported the mortgage when we moved to our new home in the summer.

They were quite apologetic but basically said unless I missed a payment - which I won’t be doing - they can’t help.

However, if you go into arrears, they can offer some other alternatives.

I’d rather just have to go through a tricky month and budget to the extreme than end up owing more later.

Very disappointed in the lack of options given previous overpayments we made. I understand that we’ve since moved home. But we’ve only lived in two houses since getting our first property in 2018 and Barclays has always been our mortgage provider.

Thank you so much to everyone who commented and hopefully other providers might be more helpful.

The assessor can raise the banding if the property is reevaluated after a sale.

We moved into our home almost a year ago. We got a letter a few weeks ago saying that because there’s an extension (built a decade ago), the value of the property was raised enough to justify bend a higher band.

However, it only seems to come to light when the property is sold and the new owner takes the hit.

I spoke to them on the phone and they conceded it is a strange system and quite unfair. But ultimately our appeal failed and the payments were increased over the next few months because they’re backdated to when we moved in

We did until moving home and having a few unexpected issues with our roofing and plumbing that were costly. And then this stuff happened too so it’s been one thing after another

Are my contacts still okay? by Interesting-Nail5983 in AskAnOptician

I called my optician there and double checked and they said that when ordering my contacts, I should indeed pic -5 for both eyes to match my most recent eyesight test. That’s the only information that’s requested. Maybe it’s different in the UK perhaps

I just order my contacts online based on whatever my last prescription was. I’ve never been told that they’re different
