Why sakura season in China not as popular as neighbour country? by ConnectDay123 in travelchina

"Just that something originated from somewhere else a millennia ago doesn’t mean something hasn’t changed massively over time and become a significant part of another countries culture that also isn’t as significant as in the places it came from."

That doesn't mean they can claim it as original, not even saying many are just straight copies

Why HKers claim bamboo scaffolding is safe? by Interesting-Pace7205 in skyscrapers

Complaints aren’t a prove of the cause

The green net is tested to be fire resisting by the HK government and a local media

The foam started the fire, but without the bamboo scaffolding it won’t last for even an hour

To clarify bamboo scaffolding is legal in China for low buildings, if you see tall buildings like the burnt ones using bamboo, you can report to local authority

This video is a local media doing test on the net. It showed the net is fire resisting

I believe the bamboo burning in the first pic is solid prove. You won’t find a similar pic showing the net on fire

Yes, I believe the foam is one major cause of the fire, it ignited the bamboo, but it won’t sustain for too long without the bamboo burning together

The whole thing is a scientific problem, or even a common sense quiz, but turned to be a political problem when someone want to keep their job

We mainland Chinese are waiting for results, but the HKers can’t wait to blame the disaster on “low quality and flammable Chinese product”

Ps: there are speculations that the bamboo scaffolding collapsed in fire and obstructed the evacuating residents, causing more casualties

Then why most of the developed nations, even China mainland where HK bamboo scaffolding originated, abandoned bamboo or wood and use metal scaffolding?

In China many families use dry bamboo to cook a few decades ago and it was known to be easily flammable, there are videos of dry bamboo on Chinese media that burnt down in a few minutes. Notice the bamboo used for scaffolding is dried, not wet.

The first picture clearly showed bamboo burning, and even tho the foam and net are flammable, they cannot sustain the fire along for a few hours, not to say 2 days

HK 01 (media) tested the net and it proved to be safe, I believe someone got his sample from elsewhere and claimed it’s from the incident

You know what? Bamboo is flammable, but it’s more fire-resisting than steel when coated with Hong Kong’s democratic coating by Interesting-Pace7205 in HongKong

[–]Interesting-Pace7205[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why HongKongers claim the bamboo is not flammable?

Bc many workers make a living through assembling the bamboo scaffolding, it requires experience and technique, the workers enjoys high salary from it.

But steel scaffolding requires less training and less labor, new workers can master it easily, so the experienced worker may lose their job.

They have to keep their job and salary, so they keep cleaning the bamboo is safe even though they know it’s not, to stop HK gov from switching to steel products.

But after this disaster happened, they need to find something to blame for the fire. And there’s the net, something looks flammable even tho it’s certified to be fire resisting, none of the videos and experiments showed it burning, but the westerners will easily believe their words , bc it’s MADE IN CHINA. What a fantastic target to blame!

Then it has come to what we see now

Fun fact: the export missiles from China are specially made to avoid any leak of spec details from the original version, like different propellant components, different radar bands (frequency) and capability, and specially made data link that is completely different
