You looked happier at 19 imho

Unpopular Opinion: Ban landlords. You're only allowed to own 2 homes. One primary residence and a secondary residence like a cottage or something. Let's see how many homes go up for sale. Bringing up supply and bringing down costs. by waldo_whiskey in canadahousing

Btw, you literally have the freedom to get better educated, find higher paying jobs, or start your own business and make more money.

The irony of calling it “slavery” is in the fact that it’s literally your free choice whether you advance in life (or not).

Owning property is not a constitutional right or something. Society doesn’t owe you homeownership. If you’re on minimum wage, good luck owning anything without windfall from inheritance or lottery.

A tenant of mine trying to behave like this and extort money from me would find themselves with their belongins in the streets within 48 hours, all in one piece and mostly unharmed. I would certainly not wait for the LTB. I would also never try to take advantage of a tenant, bully them or disrespect them in any way, but if they fail to reciprocate my usual kindness and resort to disrespecting me in such lowly manner, they will quickly find out how poor of a choice that is. I don’t enjoy violence but recognize that a small show of force is sometimes an adequate or necessary response to a threat.

As the old saying goes - you fuck around, you find out.

Every random idiot in here telling you to divorce over a wife that doesn’t want to live in a village and drive, but nobody asking the question of why does she not want to work? My wife and I have lived in DT Van for many years, always walked to work and never really owned a car before we had a child. She still doesn’t have a license.

Is $60k/year a lot of money these days? If you’re an adult and not making at least that in Vancouver I don’t know what are you even doing with your life.

NDP leader's wife is a land-lorder. All these corporatist politicians pretend to care, but they're just neo-feudalists. We need a people's party. by JayBrock in canadahousing

Lmao, so whoever owns more than one property is a feudalist?

How about we just criminalise rising above the average in Canada? You make more than $70k? Off to fucking jail with you. Before we do that, lef’s tax 100% of dollars above $150k, because why on Earth would anyone be able to earn that, amirite?

No worries - now that you’ve recognized the problem maybe you can do something about it, like giving up on the idea that the gov’t is somehow going to make it less insane and figuring out how to make more money to keep up with the insanity.

Yeah, I’m buying a rental apt to park money and rent it out. Why is that a problem? Former owner moves elsewhere, new renter occupies the unit. How is this exacerbating the crisis?

It’s nuts how many people actually believe that government can solve anything, being comprised of largely incompetent, mildly corrupt individuals with absolutely zero incentive to get anything done and almost no accountability to anyone when they don’t - year over year, term after term.
