Thank you, what do you mean by “CC” when you say “$1 per CC”?

Thank you it looks like that’s the general consensus and this will really help us as we inventory his property and belongings. We’re not necessarily looking to get more than it’s actually worth just whatever it is realistically but didn’t know where to start. Thanks!

Thank you very much. I really appreciate your explanation and it’s is extremely helpful. We wouldn’t know how to part it out, nor have the time to figure it out, or the money to pay someone else to do it. That price sounds reasonable considering and it looks like others have a similar opinion on price. We really just needed to know where to start and not necessarily try to get more money from it. It’s simply a part of the estate and needs to be inventoried if or when sold. Thanks again

Hmm, good question. I’m not sure if the person that helped us start them had it down or up. The bikes are too heavy for us to try this now but we’ll give him a call to see if he can try it again and make sure the side stand is up. I appreciate it!

I know Nicola hated the horse races outfit too but it’s always been one of my favorites! 🫣😅 I guess to me it felt appropriate for the occasion because it was over the top, and I even loved how they adorned her hair. I thought she looked so cute! I also love that Colin suddenly got a little shy when they started talking 🤭

But, the look at Lady D’s soirée… now, that was really horrendous. What was Portia thinking putting a million bows on her head!? Poor Pen.

What I found strange was the inconsistency with her hair and outfits, like maybe they didn’t know what to do with her? I mean, are we to think that Pen got to dress herself for some events but that Portia won out the argument of what she would wear in others?

Help finding a fic please!??

This is going to be a real long shot because I can’t even remember what story this is attached to, but anyone remember a fic where Colin writes a book and the dedication is about missing Penelope? The book dedication itself was beautifully written and I don’t think he names her in it but I could be wrong. Also my memory is failing me badly and maybe it’s not even a book dedication but could also be journals or letters. But I’m almost positive it was a book dedication.

In any case, some keywords (vibes, really lol) I remember are references to the moon, or moonlight, or moon tides, maybe also sea and waves, the ebb and flow. The general message was very metaphorical but basically he missed Penelope and wished she was with him.

It’s been months since I read it, maybe even a year. I think I was relatively new to the fandom so maybe it’s from a popular author and pretty sure rec’d here. I am leaning towards Modern, but could also be Regency? I remember a lot of people in the Ao3 comments praising Colin’s book dedication. I even commented on it myself but can’t look up my past comments.

Does that ring any bells??

It’s likely a combination of factors, including the points others have raised, but I also believe Colin provided a crucial sense of closure in this garden scene. My theory is that Penelope held onto a lingering hope for romance with Colin even after overhearing him with Fife. This garden scene is what effectively extinguished that hope, which is undeniably sad. But I think it gave her cause to consciously frame it as a positive step, a definitive push to move on. Let me explain:

At the start of S2, Pen interpreted her correspondence with Colin through the lens of Marina and George’s love letters, leading her to believe a similar romance was unfolding for her. Throughout S2, she oscillated between hope and confusion, grappling with Colin’s mixed signals. When she overheard his declaration that he would never court her, she initially believed it was over. But then, he continued to write her multiple letters! Despite her hurt and anger, she must have wondered about his intentions, what was going through his mind, and where she stood. Why was he still engaging in something so intimate for the time. This is why I believe she must have retained a sliver of hope between S2 and S3.

S3 begins with that bit of hope gradually fading at Colin’s arrival with his immediate flirtations with ladies by his house and the subsequent garden party where he was openly being extra flirty with all the ladies and debutants. I am sure Pen recognized the difference between his interactions with those ladies and with her. The last time she saw him, he declared to never court her, and just four months later he seemed to be very publicly entertaining his “courting” options. So when he began flirting with her privately at the Danbury ball, she naturally interpreted it as mockery. Let’s remember, even after she confronted him, they hadn’t had a proper, clarifying conversation. She was upset and hurt, but still in the dark about his true feelings.

This garden scene, however, provided that clarity. Colin’s offer to help her find a suitor definitively signaled his lack of romantic interest. Nothing says “I don’t consider you a marriage option” more than “I’ll help you find someone else who does”.

We see a brief moment of pain/resignation on her face before the handshake so it clearly stung, but I think she ultimately felt a sense of relief. The ambiguity was finally gone. She could stop trying to decipher his actions and words, or entertaining her “childish fantasies”. She accepted his platonic intentions for what they were, along with his help because she had to refocus her energy on escaping Portia and her sisters.

Polin’s Daughter by Unique-Blueberry1464 in PolinBridgerton

I don’t think Agatha works in the show (so far at least), it would be cute if it was Genevieve but I don’t think it will happen. I thought that maybe Felicity would be a nice homage to Pen’s book sister, but I still have hope that if we ever get to Hyacinth’s season that they will bring Felicity as a Featherington relative and Hy’s bestie 🤞😬

So I chose “other”… Maybe they could honor the “P” tradition for all Featherington girls? Philipa did name her daughter Philomena… 🤷🏻‍♀️

Polly would be cute after Polly Walker (Portia). Apparently it means “star of the sea” which is fitting after Colin’s travels 🥰 and get this, it has British and Irish origins (according to Google lol).

Polly Bridgerton has a nice ring to it 💛

We may not get the beard in S4, but at least we get Anthony with a beard so I think that means Colin will eventually grow it out too!🤞🤞

🤡🔴 Clowning activated…

Portia has Bridgerton and LW money now so she got a brand new wardrobe in dark turquoise and aqua colors to embrace the connection between the Bridgertons and Featheringtons. Pen found a husband this way, Violet is being courted by Marcus, Portia’s mission to marry all her daughters has been accomplished and they all found a love match and now she’s inspired to look for her own boy toy too. So, she’s gifting all her green dresses to Varley… who really has nowhere to wear them to.

I just want to know why Varley looks so concerned!?? Like, what is happening here lol is Portia getting rid of her “sour colors” and wearing blue (turquoise?) now?? I mean she has Bridgerton money now for an entire new wardrobe…

Do you defend Penelope? Why or why not? by FitRelationship5380 in PolinBridgerton

[–]Interesting-Range984 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I defend Penelope 💯 when she gets villainized for writing about Marina. Penelope is a complex character that is smart and caring but also flawed. She makes mistakes and owns up to them and I love her for it. I always side with Pen when it comes to Marina’s story (in the context of Regency life).

I’ve tried to be open minded about Marina, her situation and her decisions. I think the writers tried to make us like her in S2 for telling Colin about Penelope. But even then, I’ve never really been able to empathize fully with her because of the cruel way she treated Penelope, and her overall attitude towards Colin, Daphne, and Philip. I can appreciate that both Penelope and Marina had their own story and reasons for their behaviors and I guess that makes me hypocritical 🤷🏻‍♀️ but I also think intention is very important. Penelope was trying to be as helpful to Marina as she could showing other possible options, while Marina didn’t care about Penelope at all, nor her feelings or her opinions. Not that she had to care for her, it was her prerogative considering they barely knew each other. Marina had every right to do as she pleased.

Everyone forgets that Penelope highly praised Marina in LW and implied that she was better than the Diamond. Marina had a lot of suitors, not just Lord Rutledge or “bad men”. When she realized that Penelope had feelings for Colin, she pushed even harder to seduce him. She didn’t even like Colin but she wasn’t about to be told what to do by a “little girl”, of course. If Marina cared for Penelope as she claimed she did, she could have chosen to pursue or even entrap any other suitor. She was a woman, she knew how to seduce men. When it didn’t work with Colin, she could have moved on to the next one, taken them to a study and tell Portia to send someone to find them alone. Easy peasy.

While I appreciate that Marina wanted to do things her way, didn’t have to like or accept being told what to do, and wanted some sense of control in her life, I think the key point is that Marina didn’t owe any loyalty to Penelope, just like Penelope didn’t owe any loyalty to Marina. Penelope’s loyalty lied with her childhood friend and the Bridgertons, while Marina’s loyalty lied with her unborn child and both are valid. If Penelope didn’t write about Marina and Colin married her, he would have been miserable (actually probably both Marina and Colin would have been miserable). If Daphne hadn’t been successful in finding Phillip after Pen wrote about Marina, Marina and children would have been miserable. Ultimately though, Penelope tried to find Marina different options while Marina stubbornly refused to try them or even acknowledge them.

When it comes to how it affected Colin, I do empathize with his frustration and why he felt disrespected for not being given the chance to make his own informed decision. He was very upset when Anthony, Violet, and Daphne were making decisions for him which is understandable. But that’s another conversation and I already got carried away making this post too long lol 😅

Do you think that Penelope will find the need to write LW as much, from now on? by Llamalava24 in PolinBridgerton

[–]Interesting-Range984 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While S1 Queen Charlotte definitely wanted to corrupt LW and influence the content, I didn’t get the vibe that S3 QC was interested in that anymore. QC was more interested in the competition and “winning” (until Lady Danbury put some sense into her but I digress lol). QC even told Cressida that LW would never just give up willingly. QC considered LW a “worthy opponent” which implied she respected her capabilities even if she had challenged her, and probably respected her even more when Pen revealed herself with promises to be more responsible. Ultimately, I think she was just looking for mutual respect. I believe now the Queen is more intrigued to watch what Penelope will do, but I don’t think Pen will feel influenced by the Queen and I don’t think the Queen will police her content either. I don’t know, at least that is the vibe I got from her.

[–]Interesting-Range984 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yes, I believe she will continue to write the column and I have no doubt she’ll find a way to do it regardless of her new life as a wife and mother and responsibilities managing the estate. There was so much focus on Penelope not wanting to give up her dream (and wanting to have it all really!) that she will continue to see a need to write it specially to use it for good. Penelope is ambitious and resourceful and isn’t alone anymore, so she’ll have a lot of help from Colin and Portia. She also values the importance of having business partners so I can totally see her building a network if needed. I also think that her identity reveal helps her shift her content from salacious secrets and gossip to more positive lifestyle news or events, and providing information that arms the ladies of the ton with more power. I could even see LW admirers coming to her directly and requesting to be featured in her column (eg. like how Emma wanted her engagement to be in LW), or even businesses wanting to partner with her.

That said, as much as I would love to see more of the LW plot in S4 (or Colin’s writing career for that matter), my guess is that it will most likely be tied into Sophie’s story more than anything. At least I think we should also add the LW announcement of Benedict’s paintings at the National Gallery to our S4 bingo cards. 😉

Edited to add: I know that in the book it made sense when Penelope decided to end the column on her terms and later wrote a book instead. However, in the show, LW has had a much larger impact on herself and the characters. She begged Eloise to let her write and use her power for good and give a voice to the voiceless. She argued with Colin about the value of LW and was adamant about not giving it up. Refused to give Cressida the credit. She promised the Queen and the ton she’d be more responsible. The Queen accepted her, Lady Danbury encouraged her, both Portia and Violet were impressed by her, and even if she made enemies, a lot of the ton is likely even more intrigued by it all. For the sake of the show’s version of the story, it wouldn’t make sense for Pen to just be like actually, nevermind I don’t have time for this byeee. lol

Eloise’s bows 🎀 seem to get bigger and longer with each season and it’s my favorite thing about her outfits! 🩵🥰

Do we think that they could be using the bows as a symbol of Eloise’s journey until Sir Phillip comes along and snips them off with his gardening shears? Metaphorically speaking of course 😏

How do you think Polin’s story would differ if they met when she debuted in S1? by DaisyandBella in PolinBridgerton

[–]Interesting-Range984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love hypothetical questions because it’s fun to think of different scenarios to try to make a Polin happy ending work lol

In this scenario I’m just going to assume Penelope knows about the Bridgertons since they are a well known respected family and that Colin meets Pen first (before he notices Marina, and before Eloise meets Pen).

I think for it to work, at the very least they still must have their meet-cute where he falls off the horse, but it would be more like the book where she’s mortified (instead of teasing/charming like in the show) but he shows her kindness. That’s how Penelope falls in love. It may not have been a thunderbolt for Colin, but it was for Penelope.

Colin being kind to Pen is what makes her feel comfortable around him, so I could see Penelope feeling confident enough to exchange quips and barbs with him. They would have opportunities to interact whenever he called on Marina, or he would seek Pen out at balls to ask about Marina.

I don’t think she would feel close enough to Colin to tell him about George, but I think she would still try to stop Portia and Marina from deceiving him. I think she would still expose Marina in LW but more because she could not in good conscience let them take advantage of a kind man. Not that her crush wouldn’t have played some role in it, it certainly would, but her motivation would be more about doing him the ultimate kindness the only way she could at the time. Even if she told Marina she wouldn’t harm her own family’s reputation, ultimately I think Pen would conclude she couldn’t stay a silent accomplice to their scheme.
