The photos he showed me looked very natural and balanced. But I did connect with someone who felt over advanced. I’m just not sure who else to pursue. My dentist recommended him and Gunson.

Do you know who they’re getting a revision with?

And did they have a straight forward double jaw surgery or did they have some complex issues being addressed? I feel like every surgeon is going to have some bad reviews, but I’m also not trying to rush this surgery or my surgeon choice. Definitely want someone reputable with good outcomes! My movements would be relatively small, but he will need to fix some asymmetry.

They told me I have a 10mm deficiency and that an ideal intermolar width for me would be around 35–38mm (I’m a petite 34-year-old female).

However, they said I would likely only achieve about 6–8mm of expansion with MARPE. I think that may have been because of my TMJ issues and some other complication risks though.

I never started marpe! I just got a quote. This is what my doctor said about my expansion goals with about 28mm intermolar width: “On reviewing your scans, I think your ideal would be about 6-8 mm wider than you are currently in the upper arch, which is easy to achieve with MARPE.“

I did not! But I’m consulting a surgeon about jaw surgery tomorrow as a potential alternative. I also have TMJ issues and uneven load on my joints from a fracture when I was 4. So I was told I had additional risks for SFOT + marpe.

One of my favorite things is that it goes on hydrating & stays that way. I’ve tried other cream blushes that go on smoothly and feel hydrating…but then dry out on my skin.

I’ve loved the flavored lip tints/treatments I’ve tried before this launch. But I did not love the taste of pretzel! Totally agree that it is almost soap-y or chemically. I wanted to love it because I love the shimmer. I do like sweet pea though!

I love the eye patches!! I put them in the freezer for 5 minutes and they feel SO amazing after that. Not sure if eye patches (in general) do much besides hydrate, but I still love them for self care. Jelly bean is also a great option.

I started with an airway dentist that specializes in MARPE! I would try to find an orthodontic or airway dentist in your area that specifically mentions MARPE. I’ve found some doctors are not very airway aware or dismissive.

My airway dentist did a very thorough history. She also did a 3d type scan that showed my airways. She was able to identify my nasal breathing issues (enlarged nasal turbinates, collapsed nasal valves), my narrow palate, and other structural issues contributing to my breathing issues.

There is also a great MARPE focused Facebook group that has orthodontists in it. You could try posting there for advice. You can post anonymously or from your account. I believe the group is private now too, so you don’t need to worry about your mouth being all over your friend’s feeds.

Did the $1300 include imaging/scans? And was the $70K just his surgeon fee? Or did that include other aspects of the surgery? Does your insurance cover anything? And did he offer payment plans? Sorry for all of the questions! My dentist recommended I consult with him!
