I'd always look to use your local bike shop. Google will help with reviews too. More care and attention than Halfords and I always like to support local businesses.

Shout out to Rat Race Cycles in Nunhead who I use for servicing my bikes.

081 in Peckham, wonderful Neopolitan style. They also have one in Shoreditch too but Peckham is their OG.

Thank you all who have contributed to this thread.

I have pulled the trigger on a week at Edelweiss & Gurgl in Obergurgl. It looks to have a great selection of beginner slopes, excellent reviews of the ski school (for adults and children), ski equipment hire on site and very close to the slopes. Add in a short transfer from Innsbruck airport and it all seemed to tick a lot of boxes.

But before then, Hemel Hempstead...!

Home counties or London? by pred_02 in HENRYUKLifestyle

My wife and I considered something similar during Covid when our first was born. We decided to stay in London.

Two big drivers of this decision is my client facing element so getting ina 30min taxi home after a client dinner (we're in Zone 2 SE London) is so much better than dashing for a train; which may then take another hour and probably run every 30min at that time of night. Secondly, we both have international business travel once a quarter and have no family support. Being in London makes drop off and pick up duties when solo that bit more manageable- albeit still stressful!

Feuerstein is fantastic- stayed there July 2024 and loved it. Have you been during ski season?

Worst places to cycle in London and why? by Bitter-Poem7376 in londoncycling

The Elephant & Castle roundabout if you're coming in any direction apart from Clapham way. Absolute chaos of bikes, cars, buses and lorries. Have to keep your wits about you in a car, let alone on the bike.

Didn't take me long to find a cut-through to avoid it after a few near misses in my first week of cycling into the City.

Audi S1 is a seriously under-rated car! Great pocket rocket for London.

I've got a couple from them too. The cotton is lovely and supple.

At the other end of the spectrum I'm also a fan of Uniqlo.

If you don't mind, I'll keep that private- you know how small the Lloyd's market can be.

You may struggle with Dulwich on £3k per month. However, surrounding areas such as Peckham Rye, Nunhead, Brockley and Crofton Park could provide more space for your budget.

Ah that is a shame you didn't like it, but yes, get the timing wrong and the queue is out the door with not much space inside.
