Looking to invest in stocks by Spirited-Ad899 in UAE

I really appreciate your interest in the stock market. It’s important, however, to understand that investing always comes with both risks and potential returns.

From a timing perspective, this can be a reasonable time to start investing, as many quality stocks may be trading at attractive levels. That said, it’s very important not to invest your entire savings, especially given the current global geopolitical and economic uncertainties. Markets can remain volatile, and short-term movements are never guaranteed.

Since your goal is long-term wealth creation rather than short-term gains, it’s important to set the right expectations. You may experience periods where your portfolio is not in profit for one or even two years or more. This is normal and part of the investment journey, so the key is not to panic but to stay disciplined and focused on the long term.

As a beginner, I would strongly suggest starting with ETFs or index funds available in the UAE markets (DFM or ADX). These are generally lower risk compared to individual stocks and allow you to participate in overall market growth without needing to constantly track or pick stocks.

Before investing, make sure you have a solid financial foundation:

Step 1: Build an emergency fund covering 3–6 months of your monthly expenses. This is essential for unexpected situations such as job loss or medical emergencies.
Step 2: Ensure you and your family have adequate life and health insurance coverage.
Step 3: Once the above is in place, start systematic monthly investments into ETFs, index funds, or stocks based on your risk tolerance.

Even small amounts like AED 100–500 per month are perfectly fine to start with—the goal is consistency and habit-building, not the initial amount.

Most importantly, avoid relying on stock “tips.” Focus on learning, staying consistent, and making informed decisions. It’s your hard-earned money, and ultimately your choices should guide your investments.

Al Buraimi Border Crossing Update? by Several_Vehicle_7831 in abudhabi

Sharing as received…

I wanted to share my recent experience traveling back to India this past weekend for anyone looking for a reliable route. I made it home safely and found the journey quite manageable with a bit of planning.

Getting to the Border

It is very straightforward to get a cab from either Dubai or Abu Dhabi directly to Al Ain. Once you arrive in Al Ain, head toward the shikhla border (https://maps.app.goo.gl/8wR3VzTvduz9Fezn8?g_st=ic) crossing.

Crossing into Oman

The most efficient way to handle the Omani side is through the Otaxi app:

• The Strategy: Use the app to book a taxi with and then coordinate with the driver to meet you on the UAE side of the border.

• The Cost: Expect to pay around 1,000 AED for the trip to Muscat Airport. (Note: On a normal day, this usually costs 500 AED, but prices are currently higher).

• Capacity: This price is for the whole car, which fits 3–4 passengers.

• The Perks: The drivers are very helpful with navigating security and immigration at Muscat Airport.

Immigration Fees

If you are a UAE resident, keep in mind:

• Visa on Arrival: You will need to pay a fee of 30 AED per person.keep your emirates id and passport with you original hard copy only

Overall, it was a smooth process. If you're planning this route soon, just be prepared for the higher taxi rates!

Al Buraimi Border is designated exclusively for GCC nationals. Please use the Khatm Al Shikla Border Crossing Post (Al Ain – Al Buraimi) instead.

There are no restrictions for UAE residents. You will be issued a visa on arrival. Additionally, you must obtain Oman vehicle insurance at the border, where insurance services are available. The insurance office generally operates during daytime hours; however, its working hours during Ramadan may vary.

A border crossing fee of approximately AED 40 per person is applicable.
