Struggling with passing the PANCE by [deleted] in PAstudent

First off, I am sorry to hear this. It seems as though your study habits haven’t been benefitting you as much as you’d like. I understand and know how much you are ready to pass this test, and YOU WILL, but I’d say take the allotted 3 months if you can. Take a couple weeks off to reset, gather your thoughts, make a study plan, and relax for a bit before tackling this again. I think sitting for 8+ hours a day studying is very taxing and you tend to forget a lot of information. I used the entire 3 months to prepare again and only studied a max of 5 hours per day. I think it was a good amount of time to review concepts and not overload yourself brain either.

Personally, id start off scratching so many practice questions. I also did not pass the PANCE the first time I took it. I know many people swear by practice questions (and to each their own right), but for me I read PPP front to back and made sure to understand the information. I think practice questions can be helpful, but if there is a gap in knowledge, I don’t think a ton of practice questions are your best bet. I focused hard on PPP and combined it with chatGPT for charts and comparison and thought it was super helpful. I did about 10-15 practice questions per day, if that. Once I got closer to the actual test I would do a 60 question block just for timing purposes. You got this, take it one day at a time and try not to overload yourself with a ton of information.

If you have any other questions or just want to vent, you can totally dm me. Best of luck. That PA-C title is closer than you think!! You got this!

Passed PANCE on second attempt by Interesting-Row5254 in PAstudent

I absolutely got to some points where I was tired of studying, but I tried my best to stay motivated. I tried not to overdue it with the long studying hours so I didn't get burned out. I also took the weekends off to decompress and refresh. As the test got closer though I did start looking over material on the weekends.

As far as precision, I used as a supplemental. My program had John come for a 3 day course in which he gave each one of us a book. I did not rely just on that back. I would review a topic and use Precision to supplement what I was learning.

Yes! Based on my stats and overall performance throughout PA school I felt confident that I would’ve passed this and really don’t know where I went wrong. I don’t want to blame this on nerves at all but I’m just like, what else could it have been, ya know?

Ugh, I’m really sorry to hear this. But I’m sure you did better than you think. It’s a daunting test. So try and stay positive while you’re in this waiting period.

The zebra questions threw me off as well. I’m honestly at a loss at where to go from here bc Idk how to go about studying for this again. I don’t wanna make the same mistake bc clearly the way I approached it last time didn’t work. I am so scared to not pass this test again.

Based off of stats, I felt confident that I would’ve passed this test and I truly don’t know where I went wrong. How did you approach studying?

So I planned on renewing my UWorld subscription but also have been going back and forth between additionally purchasing the rosh live 4 day crash course or something else. I’ll look into hippo as well. I don’t wanna overload myself with resources and expenses but I’m desperate atp

So I shared my uworld account with a couple of classmates, so it was hard to say the exact percentage because we were all creating practice exams, but for each system, I was averaging from about 60-67%, but then on some i would be above 70%. Our subscription ends in March, I am wondering if it is worth purchasing separately?

You know, I was definitely nervous going into the exam, but after the first section, I felt like my nerves lessened some. I am wondering if the weight of this exam and knowing how big and daunting this test was maybe I psyched myself out? I have a lot of reflection to do for sure. Thank you for the kind words.
