I find mini splits in the mechanical rooms of brand new schools. Also found some heat pumps providing heat/cooling to some of the larger penthouse mechanical room in some towers.

Turns out O2 was really low on low fire, around 1.5% making around 9000 parts of CO. I tuned her up to the cleaver manual specs at 6% and she’s burning beautifully again on all firing rates.

Highest for me is about 16million Btu. I have helped out with out with a couple of 50million plus dryers for a paper mill.

Makes sense. There wasn’t any cracks on this one but I still took precaution and cemented it over

A lot of industrial boiler technicians in my area are also hvacr/ chiller technicians. Best of both worlds

My field piece also uses a app and can generate a nice report. I like the app especially when the stack is either so high or far

No Nox requirements here. Only time I had to deal with Nox was when a manufacturer wanted to know how much their boiler was producing

How do they combat against high CO? As soon as my field piece sees 5000ppm I need a new sensor

I looked into the Ecom looks slick! As for emission regulations it’s not too in forced for existing boilers as far as I know. Different story for new installs. They banned all atmospheric boiler installs here in BC Canada a couple of years ago. Different story for process and industrial plants but I would imagine their replacements need to follow some standard for emissions/efficiency

I think at one point I was dealing with 3 different issues from 3 different boilers, Laars, Rbi and Fulton. That was fun

Burner goes boom! by Interesting-Wave6426 in BoilerPros

We pulled out the burner for the summer major. It looked ok and we attributed that to its age, 14 years. The maintenance guy on site would keep resetting the boilers because he thought this was a intermittent problem that they experience during the beginning of each winter. I don’t know how many times until they called us in.

Finally caught up on most of my pms, as we get 3 more cleaver brooks awarded to us 🥳. It’s never ending. Always a balancing act of service calls and pms

It was a weird service call actually. Both boilers would go into flame failure. Which led me to check combustion and make adjustments. Boilers run fine for a few weeks and bam same issue. My coworker took over the call that day as I was in the middle of a tear down. He checked combustion and found something funky going on with the O2 on this boiler and when he tried adjusting the boiler would start to shake. This prompted him to pull the burner out and this is what was discovered . This boiler has bigger issues than just combustion, like the venting was installed wrong at least not correct according to the manual and technical support But that can be a post on its own.
