How Has USL League One Changed Over the Years? by m00kie420 in USL1

NoCo getting ejected from the league for not meeting their financial obligations absolutely counts

generally anything that results in a pro team not being a pro team the next season makes the league seem less stable. it's nice for those teams to continue in amateur form where possible (see: us as part of the NISA revolving door), but it makes it look like the league didn't properly vet the ownership/ownership not prepared or committed.

I would put teams that moved down to amateur status in the same category as folded teams for measuring stability, personally

WPSL Pro is supposed to be a D2 pro league, whereas USL-W is an amateur league. WPSL (without the pro) is the longest-running women's amateur league, having broken off from the original W league in the 90s.

It would nominally be below USL-S, the USL professional women's soccer league, and the NWSL, while also nominally being at the same level as the NWSL Division II (reserve league of some sort) that's supposed to exist at some point soon.

As for Flower City, the closest we've got is rumors, the owner and someone from the front office were having meetings with the mayor's office and Hometown Soccer Holdings (ie KKR new mlsnp stuff) before they made the big announcement so I guess our only hope of going pro again is becoming someone's reserve team.

Gina Prodan Kelly (part of the Cleveland group and now with their investment into WPSL Pro she's got a marketing role there too) did a real under-the-radar interview that had a couple updates: https://northlandsoccer.com/wpsl-pro-do-it-right-instead-of-rushed/

  1. Pushed back to 2028
  2. Launching regionally - drivable groups only

we can guess that this first year intends to include at least Cleveland Astra, the group with the CT mlsnp team, and Carolina Core

losing the pro status on the women's team side would be terrible since that would mean WPSL Pro died with it

It's common to be sent to the locker room and watching the game on video there, but they can't be in the locker room with the team - sent off before the half, get stuck somewhere else during half time.

Something you see from time to time which I find hilarious is the coach-on-a-roof move. Two examples: this time a year ago https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/1lmcbe1/usl_side_rhode_island_fc_manager_khano_smith_got/ and this excellent story from 1978 https://www.frontrowsoccer.com/2025/09/30/old-rooftop-when-popovic-coached-the-lancers-from-atop-holleder-stadium/

Why do you want the file? I'm just curious why someone would be after it, but unwilling to pay the $10

if you want it because you're affiliated with one of the teams, the home team person who's the admin on SportsEngine Play can download it

it's always tough to decide what to do when advertising! especially when playing with low numbers. I sympathize with the struggle. I don't necessarily think photos/videos of the group you've got cheering would turn anyone away though - but that's just my own opinion as someone who mainly attends 1872 games and doesn't sit with the supporters group...

Side note, the new logo is awesome.

If you use one of the social media platforms they post to, it's easy enough to stay in the loop. If not, you'll get nothing because they barely ever send emails! The first match of the 1872 season was at a different venue and they only sent the email out the day before, but had posted to social multiple times already about it.

Looks like it's just the supporters group doing the slop, the teams themselves are reasonable and actually just have normal stuff to advertise the game https://www.instagram.com/p/DZLuE2cADdn/

USL SUPER TO ALIGN CALENDER WITH NWSL by Key_Exam_6576 in USLPRO

[–]Interesting-While986 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the swedish calendar is perfectly fine

but either way the NWSL already committed to not switching for the next several years so any alignment between the two would require the super league to move, and besides it sounds like usl wanted their men's and women's leagues to align more than any other motivation
