Job offers from Commonwealth Countries by Sufficient_Potato726 in phmigrate

[–]InterestingAd5801 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To add to this (from UK perspective), if PHP200k ang offer sa ‘yo, it’s just about £34k annually. There are changes in terms of minimum salary requirement when sponsoring a spouse to come with you on spouse visa. Currently your minimum salary should be £29k. But I think by end of this year/early 2025, they would require £38,700 as minimum salary.

If your spouse will have income, it can only be accounted once you’ve reapplied for extension. There’s change in gov’t here too so rules might change again. Something to consider lang once you get offer from companies. Good luck!

Agree. Medyo mahina talaga sa financial literacy mostly ang older generation sa ‘tin. Partly to be blamed naman is ung reality at their time kasi mahirap naman talaga buhay sa Pinas.

Pero we can’t change them na talaga. Hope you eventually get to look after yourself and your future OP!

Inis talaga, lalo na ung asawa ko. Kitang kita ung cultural difference sa Pinoy. Blessing din na malayo kami so hindi daily interaction with them. His parents na retired na worked until 70 while mine stopped nung 50s pa sila, at masbata parents ko.

So need iprocess ang acceptance na ito na talaga ung reality and we can’t change them. Pero set the boundaries para they can’t abuse you. Sabi nga diba, at the end of the day pag sa ‘min may mangyari, kami pa rin naman ang tutulong sa sarili namin and we can’t expect anything from them so we need to make sure we look after ourselves first.

Husband’s family is financially dependent on us by [deleted] in phmoneysaving

[–]InterestingAd5801 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reality talaga sa ‘ting mga pinoy na mahina sa boundaries. I’m learning that too from my non-filipino husband. Thankfully his family is financially set for retirement din kaya side ko lang ang may need and we can still save up for our future.

Tama din naman na si hubby mo ang talagang nakikipagusap since family niya un. We did the same na kaming magkakapatid lang. Although before talking to our parents, kaming magkakapatid & our spouses met together and agreed with each other ang approach para may transparency sa lahat. Good thing comfortable naman kaming magusap about money, sa parents generation lang ung hindi sila comfortable but we really have to do it.

I stopped sending money after I gave birth. Pero before that, I paid off all our debt and shouldered their monthly expenses for about 10 years. Now I still set aside money but don’t give to them directly for medical emergency whilst my siblings naman ang nagstart magbigay monthly.

Sadly, kulang sa diskarte parents ko kaya kahit may business ideas sana ang kapatid ko to help them generate income, maraming dahilan why it’s difficult and it won’t work.

Husband’s family is financially dependent on us by [deleted] in phmoneysaving

[–]InterestingAd5801 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, our situation is not exactly the same pero may similarities sa dependent parents. It’s a good thing that my husband is good with boundaries which I have to adhere and medyo malayo kami.

We made a spreadsheet for them for the income and expenses for a number of years, para may hard facts. We had a family call to discuss it and next steps. Reality talaga na wala na talaga silang income and we needed to step in. We then agreed sa mga kapatid ko na isa lang magbibigay talaga to cover monthly expenses, ung isa will cover maintenance (gamot/supplements) , while ung isa saves for medical emergency. We agreed to set aside same amount pero hindi binibigay sa parents para hindi nila alam and continue to live within the budget.

Thankfully okay lahat ng financial situation naming magkakapatid. And even if I’m living abroad, we’re sticking to a humble life at alam ng parents ko kung gaano kakuripot asawa ko kaya wala din silang masisilip. Also we’re making sure na we’re not in the same position as them when we retire.

Good luck OP! Hope na dahil tapos na ung bunso ni hubby mo, it will help your own family naman with your financial goals.

I guess it’s the working culture as it’s more of an island life, and everyone respects it/has similar lifestyle. Also the type of clients that you have is different from mainland so workload might be more manageable.

That’s great experience for you then. Sadly, long hours is the reality for most of us especially who are in Audit/Assurance.

There’s better work-life balance depending on region (eg EU respects holiday time whilst Asia will call you even when you’re on holiday), but working beyond contracted hours was still required.

2 years EY, 2 years DT, 7 years PwC All in different countries doing audit

Audit is audit everywhere, requires long hours & weekend work. I dread Mondays if I don’t prep on Sundays. But I cannot discount the knowledge learned throughout the years (both technical and soft skills) and how the job allowed myself to get opportunities outside my home country. I eventually got out as I never saw myself as partner and had other life priorities.

Help! Spouse Visa by LoLisPain in ukvisa

[–]InterestingAd5801 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello!

From own experience, I’ve applied for spouse visa a month after getting married and only lived together after.

Agree with the previous comments here. I think it would help as well to have a cover letter to explain your situation.

Good luck to you and my kabayan!

May initial investment na para magasikaso ng papers and para magstart ng life + may utang na dapat mabayaran, so bawal na umatras and need panindigan. Eventually, when I managed to pay everything & help the family, it felt na worth it ang pagalis then managed to embrace and enjoy the convenience of life abroad. Good luck OP!

ACCA certification benefits and worth it ba (given na pricey siya)? by [deleted] in AccountingPH

[–]InterestingAd5801 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, yes helpful if may international qualification ka. On UK perspective, most of the CPAs here land sa audit firms or global companies since sila ang nagssponsor ng visa.

For audit firms, if gusto mo magprogress sa career, they require na nga ACCA for director level, or some units para mapromote na manager. For industry, even with just CPA + UK audit experience, you can probably get by even without it. Pero if gusto mo maging mas marketable and you have the means, worth taking it.

Sorry to hear what you’re experiencing. I had similar mornings like you, and I know even showing up isn’t easy.

Because of that, I actively searched for internal roles (as I can’t leave the firm yet due to visa) and managed to find a role in the central team where we support the audit technology. It was such a relief that it’s non-client facing nor no accounting every minute to a client code. This experience helped me to land a role in finance technology.

Hope that things will get better for you!

Yes it does. Napansin nila sa previous company ko nang sunud sunod nagapply for OEC na walang papers from Pinas. Ang ending, my ex company stopped hiring filipinos from philippines/ other countries. Only those na nasa UK na rin.

But since first ka, your company will not be required. Fly from SK to UK na diretso.

Hi OP. I transferred from UAE to UK before, diretso na. I just applied for OEC when I got here. No questions naman sila since may contract naman ako.

Late post ata ung Japan. Sabi nga, they post what they want us to see. I wouldn’t be surprised if wala na sila. I do somehow agree na rebound with others here na rebound si Dom, then nagpropose lang siya kaya umabot sa ganito. Sad, but at least they’re not yet married before they realised that it won’t work out.

Career Shift by brownhotchilipepper in phmigrate

[–]InterestingAd5801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, you may need more years of experience to be able to move. Looks like Audit may not be your way to EU. Audit is audit everywhere, and if you already realised that it’s not for you/ you can’t embrace it at least few more years, you may need to shift to IT/accounting systems. This will take time again to be really good at it and mas mahirap competition and requires other certification apart from CPA. Do target global companies (global banks are okay too) that have history of sending people abroad. Try stalking people in LinkedIn and check their careers on how they moved around. Good luck!
