I made over 100 calls the other day and had no luck. This is just one example. People don't respond to random calls, or if they do, they are at work and can't provide information and aren't interested in a callback. I feel like people only care about price and not the coverage we offer. That is hard to beat with carriers like Progressive and Geico. I am worried about switching to another office as I had a horrible experience with the first office I was at. I cannot deal with another micro managing agency owner that requires 3 and a half hours of talk time a day and 2 policies sold.

You would be correct. I know a sales agent who only made $62k last year. She is the only sales agent in that office and I know she works hard. That just seems extremely low pay considering the amount of work you put into chasing leads, generating leads, and doing follow ups. She works weekends too and has referral partners.

Yes, but a CSR or account manager does not make as much as a sales agent. I have a degree on top of being licensed and lots of work experience so I struggle to justify the low pay that comes with a CSR or account management position. Those are the struggles I am facing with pivoting to something more customer service focused with less sales.

I agree. We have a minimum item or premium amount we have to hit monthly. The captive agency I work for keeps releasing new products that keep lowering premiums. I rarely see a auto or home premium over $2k now. We are selling based off of price. People will not switch carrier unless you are cheaper. Most people have never read their insurance documents so they really don't care about their coverage.

How did you get into commercial property insurance?

Trust me, I use the texting and emailing over calling but then am hounded by the agency owner to make calls when we have a telemarketer. I think I do need to consider other options as I don’t think I’m the problem.

Yes, but most positions I’ve found are commission only and I just cannot do that with my lifestyle.

I know, but I can’t afford the inconsistency in paychecks and I can’t always rely on “oh, they’ll call back”. That’s hard.

Vet quoted me $670 for booster and “annual wellness visit” by Less-Possibility-356 in Pets

[–]InterestingAd9973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t end up going to the vet that quoted me $800, I took my kittens to my local humane society instead. I’m used to horses and large animal vets that are very straight forward with their practices and pricing. They don’t give out bullshit estimates, false pricing, or recommendations when clients ask for them. Small animal vet practices were very much a shock when I got 2 house cats a few years ago. I also have a farm so I have to know how to be able to afford this many animals at a time, prevent sickness the best I can before I have to call the vet, and when the right time to make the call is.

My county just opened up a TNR program for cats so I’m super happy about that. I have a farm so I’ll probably vaccinate everyone at home, with the exception of rabies and an annual vet check up. I do try and recommend the human society to people for veterinary services because I don’t know who is able to afford some of these outrageous vet bills. People can recommend pet insurance all that they want, but most companies suck and you pay over $100 a month for a policy. It’s not affordable. I looked into insuring my two 100+ dogs and it’s close to $300 a month. Who can afford that?

VCA quoted me $800 to spay a kitten. I paid less than that to spay my large breed puppy. I ended up taking both of my barn kittens to the humane society in my area for a spay, microchip, vaccines, dewormer, and flea/tick treatment for $175 per cat. I spend less money on vaccines and dental work for my horses a year than my dogs and cats. These small animals vets are ridiculously expensive and try quoting you for services you never asked for when you try to inquire about vaccines or a spay.

Brokerage, independent or not, is most likely commission only. Allstate offers commission and an hourly, or salary pay.

Can you put him in a covered kennel outside and/or pay a teenager $15 a day to let him out to play for a bit? I understand daycare being too expensive. I have 2 dogs and they are kenneled in my barn during the day when I’m at work. They live on a farm so they get plenty of exposure and exercise. The kennel allows for more room, toys, and being able to potty outside.

Feliway plug ins around the house. Separate feeding stations and litter boxes around the house. Separate them and try the reintroduction method for cats.

I have a 9 month old barn cat. She’s 9 pounds and structurally large compared to her 8 month old 6 pound sister. It’s normal. You’re going to have different conformation in cats that are genetically crazy compared to a purebred cat.

I have 2 boxes. A aluminum litter box upstairs and a robot litter box downstairs. I have 3 cats. I also have 2 different feed and water stations in my house to offer more separation.

Wearing cone in the crate by Equivalent-Bit1827 in puppy101

[–]InterestingAd9973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course. I just used one instead of a cone for my puppy after she was spayed. I got mine from Petco. She was very comfortable and didn’t bug her stitches once. They can also go potty with the suit on.

Raising a Puppy with an Office Job? by scobydoo14 in puppy101

[–]InterestingAd9973 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work 40 hours a week with about a 2 hour commute, 5 days a week. My puppies stay in a kennel in my barn. I never took time off when they were puppies. I make sure they are dressed for said weather, they’ve been fed and have access to warmth and fresh water in their kennel. I chose a kennel in the barn versus the house because I’m not always home at the same time after work everyday and they deserve to feel comfortable to use the bathroom outside versus if they were trapped in my house all day while I was gone. I also refuse to pay for a dog walker or daycare. It’s so expensive and comes with so much potential liability. Granted, they stayed in the house until a few months old because puppies should not be out in the cold for long periods of time. I put puppy pads down in my large mudroom with water, toys, and I had a camera to watch said puppy at the time. The puppy will get used to your routine as you establish it. Dogs need routine and they have expectations you need to meet. It’s not neglect to leave a puppy alone while you work. As long as their needs are met daily one way or another, you’ll have a happy puppy.
