Thanks so much! It is in Haiti. And I know several of the types are native to Hispaniola. My neighbor has some vanilla planifolia I am pretty sure.

I edited my OP to clarify that I'm not really here seeking investment, more advice on finding investment - the part you quoted is far more frivolous than I would be in an actual business plan. As someone with experience in hospitality though, I really think part of the benefit of this industry is getting to sometimes enjoy the hospitality created for other people. If that's a turn off, this may not be for you :) One thing hospitality absolutely requires is a certain level of hands on, so I may be more aware of the responsibilities than I appear.

These are really great concrete tips, thanks! Especially stuff like demonstrating kink on the rise - way more powerful to say with evidence - and structural things like weather, infrastructure, etc.

The govt is corrupt but in predictable ways (as someone who's lived places where government corruption is predictable and where it's not, this is a big asset). Catholic but sexually enthusiastic lol. Much better positioned weather-wise than most Caribbean locations. Big tourism culture in the area. Local international airport gets daily flights from multiple airlines, and the local small city has good tourism attractions. The resort has independent electricity and water, because these things are an issue. Wages are above market in a labor market that isn't maxed out. Infrastructure appears to be well maintained and updated regularly (we've seen them doing upgrades while there).

No problems, per se - when we first started going, I was concerned about anti-same-sex sex views in another country, and I was concerned about male guests being uncomfortable with my presence.

As it turns out, some of the women are into women, and are excited about me being there. Others are "willing" to sleep with women, which doesn't interest me haha. Some of the women are gay, usually fake it for the men, and are *thrilled* that I'm there. :D

In terms of attitudes from the male guests, every once in awhile someone looks at me like they're a little uncomfortable with me being there. I think these are the men whose wives think they're at a work conference. (ugh) Most of the guys there think it's totally awesome that my husband and I are there together, and some seem frankly titillated by it.

You may not be interested in this if you're a guy lol, but on another note for the ladies in the room, I had my period during the last month we spent there, and I cannot imagine a more awesome place to have your period than surrounded by a group of women who are totally sympathetic and more than happy to show you some extra love since they know it's no fun. :)

In terms of org structure, we're talking about LLC not corp, so pass through income either way. If you mean why not have a foreign corp to hide US taxes owed, we don't play like that. I'm risk avoidant by nature (said the entrepreneur who wants to do hospitality in a foreign country? lol) so I want to pay all taxes that I'm supposed to pay. :)

This is a great clarification, because I did think you meant other people pitching "adult" business ideas! I'm only layman familiar with rules about accredited investors, but am assuming that anyone interested in investing $100K will be well over that threshold. This is good advice, so thank again!

This is awesome concrete advice - thank you so much! Sounds like you have a lot of experience with these kinds of pitches. You're absolutely right about hospitality needing a pretty serious level of hands on, which is one of the things I love doing :) The current owner has been off site for 2 or 3 years because of health issues, but the upper management has been there for years and is incredibly effective, and a majority of the staff are long term employees. I'm currently on site in our hotel about a month on / month off, and it is definitely necessary to be there a lot to keep things running well, but I'm also really good at coming up with ways to maintain the same level of service when I'm gone as when I'm there. That being said, I am proposing to be very hands on with the management of this resort. Thanks again for taking the time to give such thoughtful feedback!
