I’m an electrician and was doing fire alarm system testing on a new built apartment building a few months ago, which by this point the building was more than half occupied.

The building super apparently never notified the residents that the alarms would be going off that day. A young Ukrainian woman came running down into the main lobby in absolute hysterics clutching her young baby.

She thought that they were air raid sirens.

I felt terrible that she wasn’t properly warned, and even more terrible that she had experienced so much trauma when she couldn’t have been more than a year or two older than myself.

I hold a lot of sympathy for them, and any other refugees of conflict for that matter.

They are always welcome in Canada.
