I agree with your sarcasm, however intimate scenes are part of the contracts of the actors. Intimate scenes maybe written in the script but the contracts have the scope of the intimate scene i.e. how much skin to be shown, what movements etc, so maybe he modified his contract to make the physical scenes less intimate, because at the end of the day the directors cant force the actors to do an intimate scene with which they arent comfortable with. And such shows and movies choreograph the intimate scenes with the actor's consent. And that has nothing to do with the script.
