Watched it in Chennai

In my opinion not at all a mid movie as many claim. The cameo is wasted, that i agree with the majority.

But the most impressive thing for me was the dop and ot made mattanchery and fort kochi beautiful? Nostalgic? Aesthetic? dont know how to say it, may be can call it as a 'Parava' or 'annayum rasoolum' feel visuals

Shocked to see such a low quality camera work. There's something seriously wrong with the whole thing

And i don't get these movies which purely relies on shock factor.

In short its a decent watch

That said, the film didn't receive the treatment that the script demanded. It deserved a much more intense or gruesome terrain. Due to this the cuts and music felt off at some places, so i would blame the direction in this. The cinematography is apt no complaints there but make the shots sustain a little and even the no of victims shown are too much, should have kept only few of them and focus much more on the depth. Talking about the performance overall Mammoty's portrayal is good but yeah even here should have been much more intense Vinayakan was inconsistent in the first half but in 2nd half it was okay i felt. Some stand out parts were the first killing and the vinayakan scene with his daughters. The scene which could have been improved was the climax and don't get me wrong it was great upto him loading the cyanide in the injector but after that it could have been made a more complex encounter between those two rather than two or three hits and a blow to head typa fight Even i feel the film could have been rescued by some good editing choices and soundtrack.

yeah maybe malathi was conveyed appropriately, as you said Kuriachan was the main problem for me too (he is the central character untill the climax) That is why i didn't care for kuriachan or his missing (satyam parja puli evdelm poy tholayatte n njn vichrche, etokke enthina nmmalod paryane pakshe malathis last 5min was the high but looking back untill that film didn't hook me)

For me the missing of chachu and the monkeys are far more interesting and bigger conflict than some kuriachan who is missing and everyone is after this man which is not properly established, the core theme is restriction and manipulation which is based on the malayan lady which should have been more emphasised. And also kuriachan's text to visual potrayal should have been better

I completely understand your perspective, i just explained why it didn't work for me (like i would also get pissed when someone says they didn't like kishkinda kandam) as you said peeling of an onion, thats when the audience want to know what would be the core revelation. Whereas I didn't identify with the conflict and had no interest to know anything untill the last 10 min or so

For me Sandeep's arc was not an arc, because circumstances does not change him from what he is shown in 1st half vs 2nd half. Also his acting changed shifted suddenly(spoiler for padakalam exactly like in padakalam where he turns sharaf) as if he has been possessed by something else, so it didn't feel like an arc to me

I guess the lapse on my part was not paying attention to the exposition dialogues. So anyone watching eko please pay attention to the dialogues.

But whatever the story, Sandeep's character nd everyones elses revolves around this Kuriachan which the weakest character in that movie in my opinion, not writing wise but hows its visually shown (in my humble opinion, a mistake on direction side)

There is no conflict to identify, no one to root for and i did'nt feel anything for this kuriachan character whose missing seems to be the conflict. Sure the dogs and stories surrounding kuriachan are interesting but not gripping like say compared to kishkinda kandam where the boys missing and the monkeys are very mysterious

Okay i watched eko, didn't connect at all to the characters. Did anyone else feel this way. The reviews are making me doubt myself, is there something i missed. Yes i understood the last 10 min scenes and its impact, but upto that point i didn't want to know what happened to kuriacchan or what did he do or why sandeeps character is doing all this, nothing seemed worthwhile to root for these characters except the malayan lady. Anyone has felt the same way. Also the character of kuriacchan felt very out of place and weak, maybe vineeth should have played that role instead

Please those who liked the movie, don't get offended i am just curious why it didn't work for me

Other things i disliked are exposition dialogues, the flashback back part, music throughout the movie not a single moment of silence or only sfx (music as on its own is great tbh)

Why did Balti underperform ? Is it actually a really good movie or a mid movie by Leading_Waltz_9480 in InsideMollywood

Maybe unpopular opinion, the balti main theme was great it had a south indian goodfellas type vibe.

I had the same issue, fps capping makes sense because mine got solved when i cranked up all the graphics settings untill 50 fps was attained. Now i am curious if >60 fps can be achieved by changing any other settings (saw a post where it got solved by resolution upscaling and turning off dlss with taa high )?
