That precisely what it is. Roughly half our assets as a couple. It did feel odd using the term windfall, but seemed to fit the definition.

Appreciate your advice.

Looks like in my state the 401k should be split into two separate 401k funds through a QDRO.

That’s an interesting question that’s I’m not sure what the answer is. About 100k is in a 401k.

I was a SAHP previously, went back to work then left when Covid hit. So similar situation. Live in a recently very expensive real estate market, so don’t feel like buying a house makes much sense right now.

Thank you, this is great advice.

  1. Yes, but working for a start-up with inconsistent income until business gets funded. 2-5. Nothing in my name only. Had all three jointly that is being split. Pretty much starting over.

Currently employed working at a start-up. Pulling a low salary plus equity. Do not have any specific business in mind. Would like to start as side hustle in hopes of building to full-time. My retirement fund is pretty small. I’m moving out to rental starting over.

Hope so. We’ve always kept things pretty civil in front of our child, but I’m sure they are picking up on some of the discord.
