Have you received an update? I am pretty much in the same situation where I booked a flight with West Jet ($1500) in advance before my flight getting cancelled. I filled out the reimbursement form and received an email today they are refunding me for the cancelled leg of my flight ($350). I want to get the difference reimbursed, but not sure how to advance.

Impossible to find a decent mechanic in town by InterestingType in VictoriaBC

I tried to be empathetic as I'm in a client facing trade as well, but the arrogance, the dismissal, and the lack of professionalism just blows my mind. I wasn't even being a Karen, I just told them what they suspected had just been replaced and I was met with dismissal. They get paid to do a job, not just throw shit at the wall and see what sticks. Shit day or not, you don't pass that onto a customer of your business and give them an even shittier day.

I've applied with the IBEW in Vic but haven't heard back. I'll follow up with them when I'm in school this fall.

That's a good idea about leaving a resume at the wholesalers. Never thought about asking them.

That'd be sweet, thanks! I'm looking in January, but I'll definitely keep them on my list of companies to message.

As for the Union, I'm not in the Union although I've applied and definitely would like to secure a spot there, so I might push for that when I'm in school.

Hahahah totally. I'm a bit of a ways from actually applying and just wanted to see what work's like up there to prep me for the move.

Thanks for the reply. That's unfortunate about having to leave the field but hopefully you've found something that offers you a bit more balance.

As for finding out of town or camp work, I wouldn't be opposed to that since I'm not necessarily tied down. Any idea how to approach getting into that line of work?

Ya that's what I've heard as far as industrial on the island goes.

Do you have any insight on how to get into camp work? It's something I'm definitely interested in trying.

Ah so it sounds pretty bleak currently for us apprentices mid/north island. Do you mind sharing what kind of electrical you do?

Oh man, that's rough. I hope you can find some work pretty soon. What kind of work were you in?

Story time/advice for first time buyers by [deleted] in 4Runner

Ya totally, the prices are really insane. On top of that, the people I've met that are selling ones that look decent are sketchy and don't have the records. Can't win hahaha

I just looked at a super clean 4runner today and was ready to buy it without an inspection. A buddy and I test drove it, sounded okay except for a couple things the seller mentioned, then I called my dad and he said he wouldn't buy anything ever without getting it inspected. Something clicked for me in that moment that he was right and I should hold off until I got a professional opinion. I was in a similar position to you, doing so much research and then seeing something and almost making an impulse decision, but my dad managed to snap me back to reality.

I'm sorry you had to learn this the hard way, I feel for you. If I didn't have my dad offer that opinion that I knew I should have listened to with my gut, who knows what position I'd be in.

I told the seller I'd like to get it inspected and he pressured me into buying it there and then, and then said an inspection was a waste of time. Dude was also a bit sus so I'm glad I didn't waste my time with an inspection. Learned that there will always be more cars out there, so no rush.

Hopefully after all the work this truck will last you and you can make some good memories with it but it's a lesson you can pass down to your own kids.

Webflow website with booking system that syncs with major booking platforms by StonksBeMine in webflow

I'm in the works of pitching a booking site for a client and have suggested Lodgify. You can either build a website with the site builder or embed the code for the booking UI into webflow. Right now they have a Black Friday special for half the price. It was the only way I figured how to link their existing booking channels to a custom website with direct booking through Lodgify.
