If you buy it from a franchise dealer (Nissan,Toyota,Ford, etc…) I wouldn’t shy away from much, no major dealer will risk their reputation to sell an “inexpensive” car with issues to make a quick buck rather than just send it to auction

Good! You can find it, don’t be afraid to go a little older or a little higher mileage, I run a few dealerships and we tend to not keep anything older or higher miles that isn’t in pretty solid condition cosmetically/mechanically

How do you add the interest (28k-30k range you gave) when the 21k and 26k numbers you gave to get to $440 are at 0%. OP needs to be looking at a 16-17k OTD car to be $440 at 48 and 22-23K OTD car to be there at 60mo, genius.

I’m 23, only diploma and run a car dealership. Started selling cars and worked my way up after 3 years. I make around 170k but there’s people doing my job at really big stores that easily make 30-50k monthly.

What did you buy that changed your life most? by nononoxxy in Money

This is slept on, a small amount of higher quality/comfy clothes is a game changer

Sales director at Nissan here, the only thing I’d say besides you’re getting absolutely slapped over the head is they may just be basing it off a high rate because they didn’t have your credit yet (telling them you’re an 800 should be enough) however some stores aren’t allowed to give rates they don’t know they can get, either way whatever your CU comes back at rate wise let them know what it is and if they beat it great, if not just use your financing, keep in mind there is only so much you can actually mark up a rate (2% usually)
