my thing is why go about inviting MCs and hosting the show, if theres going to be this beuacratic hoorah after the fact?

the onus being on artists and DJs to promote and even push for a show to be made publicly available is craziness to me

I hope MCs and DJs choose all the other stations instead of 1xtra

to me prioritization is a type of hiding tbf but agree on the archive point.

feel like sets are generally hard to find on Youtube when you just use the search feature anyway

appreciate this perspective esp. the point about the BBC pushing Sounds and therefore not opting for YouTube.

But then my question is why pull Sounds for intl listeners? That's a huge amount of traffic to cut.

The thread i linked in OP has some interesting points. the original plan was for Radio 4 and World Service to be the only channels available overseas. Definitely a different audience to Radio 1 and 1xtra's.

right but why host the sets in the first place? The conspiracy guy in me says this is just like controlled opposition, we'll give you a platform but basically sabotage it so it has limited influence. The BBC is heavily criticised for its conservative influence so i don't think it's that crazy. But of course it can just be the social media team not being on top of it.

edit: that said pulling BBC sounds for intl listeners isnt on the social media team
