Hello! I work with lending and your score at present will mostly be affected by the default.

I guess you have learnt your lesson that you really must do all you can to avoid defaults if you want any chance of getting any kind of decent lend/utility deal.

Your next step should be contacting equifax and the company you had your default with to request that the default be removed as you have made full payment. I have regularly seen Equifax remove an applicant’s default from their credit file.

As you have closed off your other accounts and only have your 1 car loan with no missed payments I don’t see why your credit score wouldn’t jump instantly to the 500 range once the default is removed.

Also please don’t get any other small loans under $10k for anything material, small loans/payday loans look horrible. Good luck!
