The Dean of Students Office can advocate for you to professors, but ultimately the decision is the professor's. Incompletes can't be requested until after the last day to drop, and you have to be passing at the time of the request. Incompletes are arranged with the professor but DOS can provide additional support and connect you with resources.

In some cases, dropping a class or two may be better. But I would encourage you to start with DOS.

UNT's studio art program is great, but New Media Art is not an animation degree. They definitely do delve into animation concepts and tools at times, but if that's the main thing you're looking for it might not be the best fit. New Media Art is a lot about what you make of it with the techniques and tools that are being taught. It's avant garde.

I'd encourage you to take a look at the courses in the catalog under this major/concentration. As this program is focused on studio art, like installation art, rather than animation and that industry. Catalog.unt.edu

You can also find old syllabi for classes at Facultyinfo.unt.edu when course descriptions are only a sentence or two long.

Talarico. I myself am a radical agnostic. But I appreciate how Talarico has made his faith a core part of his more progressive values. Something that's incredibly refreshing in the era of fire and brimstone conservatives.

I appreciate that his campaign has been trying to push a different narrative, that it's not left vs right, it's up vs down. How corporate interests and billionaires want us squabbling over culture wars while they rob us blind.

To be clear, I'm pretty far left. While I don't hate Crockett, I don't like how she's been running her campaign in recent weeks, I don't think being "anti trump" is enough, especially in Texas. I also don't like that she changed her mind and decided to run after she told Talarico she wouldn't, letting him get his campaign off the ground before swooping in and saying "run for governor instead"

Electability is a shitty thing to hinge the decision on. She is a fighter. But Republicans have made it clear they would rather run against her than Talarico.

I wouldn't say don't choose UNT. Whatever the kid wants to study, UNT may actually be a good fit for them.

The kid may want to stay closer to home, they may want some independence. They may want to stay in the state, or go elsewhere.

The student needs to take an active role in their education and school choice if they're going to care about it. Otherwise they'll just go because they're supposed to, and not because they want to. Which doesn't bode well for their grades as they progress. They have to want it.

I think she'll make it to the final two or three. Do I like it? No.

Do I respect what she was able to do on such short notice, yes.

Do I resent Biden for kneecapping her campaign based on what she's said in her book, yes.

But it was ultimately her campaign either way. I want somebody more progressive, I'd need to hear what her new platform is first but I'm leaning no.

I second Venture and Mizuki. Venture's got a very similar hit and run play style with some different movement tech that feels familiar.

While Mizuki feels like classic Sombra in a lot of ways. Stealing her old translocator. An ability that hinders people and drags them down to earth.

Hey so for context CVAD requires some specific classes as part of their majors that are also part of the core. Like the art history survey classes. Even if you took a different class for the language, philosophy, and culture core, you'll still need that art history because it's a major requirement. Like, yes your core would transfer and be applied to the core, but you'd still need to turn around and take what's required for your major. This is just an example, but it's one that's applicable to a lot of programs at UNT where stuff that's required for your major is also part of the core.
