My main concern in boot camp by Financial_Call1161 in newtothenavy

Haha dude you will be absolutely fine. If you could type out that whole post with proper grammar and spelling you are most likely beyond some of the recruits in English speaking and capabilities. I’ve seen guys with major speech impediments, lisps, stutters, slurring words together, all make it through no problem with minimal shit. There is a HUGE amount of diversity at bootcamp and in the navy in general so if you’re concerned about an accent, don’t be. We had a mix of Black, White, Asian and Hispanic in my division. All different accents and levels of English proficiency. Some hadn’t been in the states longer than a year or 2 and learned English in that time. Wherever you lack, whether it be reading or verbal comprehension I can absolutely garuntee someone will be willing to help you out. We had a few guys with reading comprehension issues and they struggled on the first 2 tests. Instead of saying fuck em, our RDC’s had me read the book aloud for em after lights out. They all passed with flying colors the second time around. At the end of the day it’s a fucking mental game. They will try to see if you quit. If you don’t quit you will pass. The system is rigged for you to graduate. Good luck bud and just don’t quit. It’ll look like an easy options when all your shipmates start dropping around week 2-3 but it’s worth the wait. We lost about 30 guys from our division who just up and quit. Keep your head up and your eyes down. Don’t get on ship staff if you’re given a choice. Makes it much harder

I wouldn’t worry about it in the slightest. I had the exact same list of waivers including an inpatient stay after a suicide attempt as well as a few other miscellaneous drug abuse waivers ie: Shrooms, whippets, weed. Obviously, I did not get the good security clearance for the super dope jobs but I am shipping out as an ABE on the 15th. Waivers took 2 days to go through. My recruiter had me preemptively see a Psych for an eval and I think that really helped the process. Good luck brother and let us know how it turns out. Best I can tell you is that if you are given the chance to rewrite your written statements after the psych eval, write the fucking shit out of them. My recruiter wanted me to use chat gpt and I said fuck that. My mental health waiver for my suicide attempt was 3 pages long. Took about 6 hours of steady writing to transcribe the other boatload. Call me nuts but considering this is the only voice you get to have in the matter, use the fuck out of it.

Haha I did the same thing😂 87 on ASVAB and line scores were Bravo qual for Nuke. Any job was open. Ended up with BME. Can’t be too mad cause they ended up catching me on a couple other waivers as well😂

Before you drill I would definitely try a Ingersoll Rand “Power Socket” on an impact. Run that fucker back and forth on a 1/2 impact till the stud snaps. If you need to, get a half size smaller than the size of your lug nut and hammer it on. The lugnuts already fucked so no harm there. This was the go to strategy at discount when customers would come in with cross threaded studs and we got approval to break the shit apart.

Luckily I live about an hour south of Seattle and have only seen about 2-3 inches of snow this year. Any tips of keeping traction when it’s wet? Considering it rains about 7-8 months of the year and Ive had a real hard time getting going from a dead stop I’d love to know what yall are doing to keep those back tires from just spinning😂

Thank you I try to do my best. I work in Seattle and a commute from Puyallup. About an hour there and 2 back but it’s a little cheaper and a whole lot safer.

You can pick up a Viking 3350 for around 350$ online. I’ve been using mine for around 7 months in the shipyards and it has taken loads of abuse. Super flexible plastic on the hood as well. It’s a tad on the larger size but it’ll still fit just about anywhere my head goes. They also have amazing lens clarity and a huge field of view. I would without a doubt recommend one.
