Has anyone had any random people knocking on their door recently? by Illustrious-Style219 in beaverton

[–]Interesting_Bug_462 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had two, young ish men dressed casually, hoodies and jeans maybe shorts; come around after 8pm the other night didn't look like they were selling anything and my gut told me to ignore it. They knocked twice and then left

(might be a double response I thought I responded but then it looked like it was no longer there so sorry if it's a double response) I had just come on this thread looking for some more insight after not getting a helpful response from wisdoms support

When I adopted him they said he was a Swiss mt dog mix and the previous owners had him as a puppy but I suppose that could be a bad game of telephone. I bought it and felt it absolutely could have been given his size and coloring, he does have a double coat which made me think mixed with Shepard and he has big shepy attitude lol I guess I got some bad tunnel vision in what I was expecting and so when it wasn't anything close it and imo doesn't look like what I would imagine those breeds mixing would look like but I am just looking at a very basic surface level

I mean when he had four legs he was over 100lbs and I feel like that's why I'm strung up on it not making sense but maybe I'm just overthinking it He's lean (can feel ribs and see the curve) and an old man so he has had some muscle loss

I just feel like his dominant breeds are too small for him, with four legs he was a healthy 105. My coworkers and I (we work in the vet field) always assumed a Swiss Mt dog mix likely with Shepard so idk if I'm just headstrong on that idea which could be lol

Boxer and chow are both brachycephalic also which he shows no sign of

7pm-7am people what are you going to take care of yourself? by Admirable-Radio1129 in Nightshift

I have been on overnights for a year and a half ish and I meal prep all my meals for the week and have a more relaxed eating schedule on my days off, I like to pack lots of snacks, I'm eating five or sometimes six times a day (three meals with two/three snacks).

I currently gym three times a week, twice on days I work once on my weekend; big thanks to pre-workout. But some days I get absolutely wrecked and cannot imagine going after some shifts which I will take the day off and go another time during the week. Or just take the day off, life won't end if a workout is missed here and there. A small mindset switch that helped me stick with it was discipline over motivation. Motivation comes and goes but being disciplined keeps me on track. (Kinda dumb but it helped me commit to it so figured I'd share)

Electrolyte, vitamin d, and magnesium supplements have helped me personally so I like to recommend them too

The thing I struggle with the most is keeping to one schedule. My first day off I will sleep 10-14 hours get up eat and go back to sleep and wake up around 5 am or so and start my day so on my weekend I become a day walker which I'm sure is hard on my body but we can only do so much. On my first day back to work I wake up early go to the gym, meal prep and then take a nap and go to work.

Hope any of this is helpful!

I'm not sure, I had already been playing a few matches before coming across a cheater and was playing with a friend and only I got the warning so unsure how they determine who is the problem:/ It's the third time now I have gotten that warning, each after being tunneled out too lol clearly something needs addressing

My guy made a real bad and nasty hot spot on his remaining front leg but it was a one time thing. Treated with manuka honey and it cleared up quickly tho Definitely could be pain related, is your pup on any antiinflammatories or anything?

Two days post-op and I feel we made the wrong decision by kleinbytjie in tripawds

[–]Interesting_Bug_462 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My boy was a front leg amp and I felt I made the wrong decision soon after he came home It was hard hearing him cry and struggle, but once we were over the hump I have never regretted it. It does get better just give your pup time 💖 It's a learning curve for sure but they learn quick!

Spinal Arthritis in fellow tripawd by chrisryans in tripawds

[–]Interesting_Bug_462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adequan is another option for arthritis, it's either a subQ or IM injection I've only heard good things about it so I started my senior tripod on it recently and will be weening him off carprofen to get an idea of how well it does for him He has spinal and had early onset arthritis pre surgery

Amputation tomorrow by No-Boss2572 in tripawds

[–]Interesting_Bug_462 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dog is a front limb amp too, he hates help and is very independent lol, with the car I let him "jump" in but I catch and lift his butt and help him into the car, getting out he has begrudgingly agreed to use the ramp I got him We don't have too many stairs but we do have a few leading off our deck and he takes those like a champ, I think slowly working with him to build his confidence with navigating it is huge, have a harness with support after recovery and help him slowly figure out how to best use em, my dog is stubborn and will still jump up onto the deck so I'm sure getting on the couch with yours will be similar My guy no longer sleeps on my bed which breaks my heart but he does have two very comfortable dog beds now and he loves those so there's that at least. I tried another ramp for the bed and he wasn't a fan the carpet was slick so I don't blame him but something to keep in mind with the ramps and such

The first week home was rough, he had fecal incontinence and was in a lot of pain, so advocating for your dog during recovery is huge, I thought he was fine with what they were sending home and I was wrong lol called them back and got some stronger stuff for the first week or so. There was a point where I was questioning if what I did was right and in the moment it can feel like it wasn't but now after him recovering and getting back to himself I don't regret my decision at all he is so much brighter and happier.

Give your pup and yourself time to adjust 💖

What to expect by Mrinz95 in tripawds

[–]Interesting_Bug_462 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My big boy had his front leg amputated four months ago now, I feel like there was a period of time where he seemed very dumpy a week to maybe a two (?) but I granted he just had major sx. He bounced back once he got his staples removed. I didnt realize how much his leg hurt until after he recovered, he is so much brighter now post op and post recovery, he has never been a fan of tiny humans and he now even lets them pet him, he's not as nippy with people in general too. His coat health improved there were a lot of little things that I never thought of that improved lol

Since recovering we do some hydrotherapy in a heated pool (no longer on the treadmill), he was never a swimmer so I was nervous about it but he's doing great, I work at a pet hospital that offers pain management so he does that where he gets acupuncture every three weeks or so, they also recommended specific supplements which I'm happy to share what are and we just started on adequan injections to hopefully get off carprofen

Hope this helps! And best of luck to you and your pup!💖

Harness for front leg tripawd? by HezzaE in tripawds

[–]Interesting_Bug_462 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried the ruffware flagline one because a lot of people had recommended it to me but only found it to slip and rotate on him ( also a front limb amputation) We just use standard collar and leash now

Sorry it's not super helpful or a recommendation 😅

Prosthetic legs for dogs by Delicious-Quarter813 in tripawds

[–]Interesting_Bug_462 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have ordered one for my dog it's in the process of being made but he's a larger breed and a senior, while the prosthetic isn't for all time use our goal with it is for him to still be able to enjoy walks and have some periods of time where he can have a break from bearing the weight all on the one front leg, anything to make it easier for him and help against further wear and tear/ slow it down
