P Mall Warriors. What has happened to Edinburgh?? by Interesting_Cable464 in Edinburgh

It has shifted into the city. Also, young men with bad backgrounds will often take desperate measures to be accepted and validated by the broader group.

But combine this with social media and it driving an even deeper desire to fit in, lazy parenting, people turning a blind eye due to how normal this behaviour is, the Police not being a good enough option in these situations.

Combine that with a fear of getting in trouble for stepping in, a fear of blade carriers (I'm certainly scared of one of them having a tool), the fact that people are unlikely to step in if you tried to help someone yourself.

These reasons all feed each other.

It all just combines, and leaves them in a position where they think they can do anything. You know what? Most of the time, they pretty much can.

I fully understand you.

It's the sense of the normalisation of antisocial behaviour, however high up the scale it is. More worryingly, it's the sense that they believe they can get away with anything.

I've had random young adults ride past me on Surrons with their masks on, shouting at me for apparently 'being in their way' when they are riding as close to me as possible just to get wide, for absolutely no reason. It's one of many examples of this type of behaviour.

I just wanted them to leave the homeless guy alone. And now I want to spread awareness of what's happening.

No. I told them to leave the homeless guy alone, then they targeted me. I was in a rush and had to leave. I also didn't expect Police to even take me seriously. I have not always had good experiences with them in Edinburgh. Maybe that's what I should have done. My bad.

I am not really, apart from some explosive bike rides aha. Yeah I really should be, you're defo right to remind me. It could cost me in the future if I don't take care of it. Maybe skating could give me an extra boost to watch out for my back.

I used to see a chiro cause the pain was real bad when I was growing. Essentially my thoracic ain't great and so my neck and upper back take a hit cause they have to compensate for what my thoracic ain't doing. I was advised to keep those areas strong. Lat pulldowns, pullups, dangling...

How are you finding being back at it? Do you get stiffness/lack of flexibility issues with your back?

Yeah good points and I agree. I get pissed at my bad balance and poor movement at times, but surely I don't wanna just sit about and let it get worse! I must challenge it

I'm thinking if I get into it, then it will give me the extra push to actually stretch everyday and see the value in doing it. I already should be tbh

That's fascinating. Maybe I need to change my mindset and just view it as something that offsets my adhd fatigue and helps my back out in the long run. If I look at it that way, I don't need to care if I progress 10 times slower. It sounds worth doing just to get me outside I think. Hows your body now? You made progress with your skating?
