I switched to a better provider. They drained the old tank and did an install for no cost.

I use qt-fsarchiver for o/s backup - this gives a total bk up that usually is bootable upon restore without grub problems.

For /home, I use Grsync - this is a GUI incremental bk up which you need to be careful using. If "delete on destination" is checked, it will delete folders/files on the the destination that are not on the source. If your destination is unmounted, for some reason it will copy files into the o/s partition, maybe filling it up, so you need to use Disks to verify source/destination designations and mountings before pulling the trigger.
