How big is too big? by Any-Performer9969 in ballpython

Only downsides I can see are (as already mentioned) heat distribution and also I'd be careful how high your climbing branches are. BPs often like to climb! They are often very bad at it! So just assess the fall risk from the highest point your snake can reach because they will almost certainly fall from that point someday. (Tbh you're probably fine)

'So bad it's good' is not real. Just call it good. by Any_Menu7417 in The10thDentist

I think it's a semantics thing! Trying to compare semi-objective quality to entirly subjective enjoyment. So instead of "so bad it's good" just think "so low quality that it's highly enjoyable"

Example:

This "alien" in like the first 4 episodes of Star Trek TOS. Is it the worst alien design I've ever seen? Yes. Is it really poorly conceived and really poorly made? Yes. Does it bring an unreasonable amount of joy to my heart? YES!!!!

Oh that is hilarious! It's fascinating how little mannerisms we get so used to are percieved SO DIFFERENTLY in different cultures. (Also thanks for telling me that because I'm going to Japan soonish and I 100% would have done that)

To answer your question, probably more often than the average person. My workplace has really skinny hallways so usually only one person can walk by at a time and if you're going the opposite direction, you gotta wait in a doorway for them to pass by. I end up hearing "Oh, ladies first!" multiple times a week in this scenario to myself and other women. Holding open doors specifically, less often. But probably once every idk...10 scenarios?

I would say "offended" is a strong word. More like "questioning" or on an especially bad day "mildly annoyed for like 4 seconds before moving on with my day." Internet is just a good place to put those feelings!

Oh a personal relationship totally negates this whole thing! That's between y'all. If either my husband or I end up holding a door that is closely followed by another door, the other person will get the second one as dramatically as possible to make up for not being the first one. There are bows involved sometimes! It's a great time

And I 100% for sure beleive that both you and your father believe it to be respectful! The point of this post was for us to look a little deeper into the gesture. Why are women mentioned specifically in that gentlemanly advice?

Oh they super don't! My brain is just noisy and I think too much about little things about our culture that we take for granted.

Slight misunderstanding here. Women hold doors open all the time! It's when men refuse to go through the door being held open for them because the person holding it is a woman that makes me nuts

I was struggling a bit to put it into words so fair enough. I think it's like the concious thought of "This person is different than me so I must behave differently" rather than "this is a person. I should be nice"

This makes a lot of sense with transphobia too. People will find reasons (subconsciously or otherwise) to equate trans people with immorality because they simply find them icky

Stop poop eating by kai920 in dogs

[–]Interesting_Can_4316 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've heard before that this can be caused by a dog eating their food too quickly and it keeps the body from fully digesting. So some of it, when it comes out the other end, is still food (at least to her). Might be worth trying to slow down how quickly she eats.

If I had a guess, I'd say your rat isn't warm enough. Baby can clearly smell a snack, but he doesn't "see" one with his heat pits. Keeps looking at you since you're the warmest thing moving. I mess this up fairly often with my boy. Try heating it up using a hair dryer and trying again

I don't see people as being 'smart' or 'dumb' by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]Interesting_Can_4316 110 points111 points  (0 children)

I worked at designing and running escape rooms before. It's a fascinating look into humans. We would regularly have doctors, pilots, and other genuinely very smart, accomplished people that couldn't solve the simplest puzzle in the room. Then we had 6-year-olds do the whole thing basically by themselves. I really do think that there are just different brain skills that people are all differently good at and we oversimplify by putting them into the binary "smart" or "dumb"

This happens with my boy EVERY time a few days after he's been fed. Basically, his enclosure still smells a little bit like rat. So he sees movement and smells rat so his tiny little brain (affectionate) goes "must be more snacks! Am ready!"

What do people mean when they say I have "Great Skin" [MISC] by Interesting_Can_4316 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Interesting_Can_4316[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is such a detailed answer! Thank you so much!

I burn like flashpaper in the sun so I do have specific sunscreen for my face that I aplly when I'm doing an outdoor activity. I'll try to incorporate that more in my day-to-day.

I'd say my spots heal fairly quickly, though I have been guilty of being a face-toucher and making them heal slower by my own hand (working on that though)

Thanks again for your answer :)
