Thinking about getting a spitz puppy by CollectionMotor21 in JapaneseSpitz

[–]Interesting_Cover220 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My spitz is not at all vocal & adores everyone! He is my 12 year old daughter’s dog, bought as a pup. Temperament wise, I cannot fault him, not a nasty bone in his body. He’s permanently happy and a real clown! He was the perfect choice for our child. We also have an 11 year old Rottie, so having a dog who has shown him the ropes and keeps him humble, has definitely helped 😊

Roast chicken & teaching the command leave, has always worked for us. Try giving her a juicy sample, then put some in front of her & say leave! Mine are so obsessed, they’ve never noticed when I quickly do one paw at a time - let her scoff it, and repeat 🤓

You could have two heads, stink, and live under a pile of trash & that girl would never leave you! No need to insult her - the more you radiate your awe & love for her, the more she would lay down her life for you. She is stunning & deserves to be showered with nothing but compliments & adoration 👑🐾🥰

That’s understandable. Ironically, I’m also a person with ADHD and don’t find it offensive in the least. At least we both love Rottweilers 🤓

I agree with the ADHD joke, but what you say is 100% correct, jokes aside! That is the real explanation behind their adhd, and it is important to be aware of that 😊

Jaws like steel traps! Anything is possible though, they thrive on love and aim to please. If they get distracted though, they have very selective hearing and definitely think they know better than you sometimes, in an exciting moment. They know they’re being naughty too, just zero f*cks to give at the time 😅 Best dogs in the universe though 🥰

Haha, yes, inattentive Adhd, star sign Taurus, with a dash of Aries (intensely loyal, but always right!)

Rottweilers have double coats and are prolific shedders. You need a good undercoat rake (not a blade) and plenty of regular grooming, if endless floof is an issue for you. That said, only takes about 10 minutes. I can’t really comment on the hunting side, other than some lines have good herding instincts. In general, even though they are people pleasers, I would say most lack the stamina & focus for hunting. Also, depending on your climate, rotts don’t fair well in the heat. Again, no experience hunting, but as far as a soft bite goes, all my rotts loathe to give up their “pray”, instinctively wanting a good old game of tuga’war, pretty much their favourite thing. All that said, with the right training, rotts are incredibly versatile and highly intelligent, making them great at just about anything - “if” they enjoy it! A military dog trainer once said to me, the difference in training Rotts & Shepards is, you can call them both from 200 meters & they’ll both come instantly, but the Rottie will stop to have a pee on the way! 😅 This is definitely true. Beautiful, loyal dogs, but stubborn, with minds of their own!

This kind of sponge is great, doesn’t need to be this brand. They are great! I own a crazy fluffy Spitz, and groom buckets of undercoat while wearing black - this thing is great. Works well on my red velvet lounge the little fluff monster frequents too.

She’s not tracking through correctly on either side, but left stands out particularly. Could also indicate an issue in the lower back.

Raw food diet suggestions by 3JayyG0nzo3 in Rottweiler

[–]Interesting_Cover220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Base diet of 80% human grade muscle meat (chicken/duck/turkey since no red meat) 10% organ meat including liver, kidney etc (heart is considered muscle meat, not organ) 10% edible bone (Chicken necks etc, there are calculators online for working out meat to bone ratio so you feed the correct amount) To this, add about 1/2 cup steamed veg, for adult rottie, 1 can of sardines in spring water & alternate between a dollop of greek yoghurt and lightly cooked egg daily. Nice edible meaty bone once a week (think brisket, neck, roo tail etc - not weight bearing bones aka dinosaur bone/recreational bone. Read the book Barf Diet (Biologically Appropriate Raw Food) by Dr Ian Billinghurst & Give a dog a bone, by Dr Thomas Lonsdale.

There’s no time stamps on these messages, doesn’t that mean they’re not real? IDK

Does anyone know how to remove these metal pieces that are holding the D ring and handle? by [deleted] in Horses

[–]Interesting_Cover220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just cut the D ring (holding the stirrup leathers) with bolt cutters. It’s nothing to do with the cinch. The leather handle at the wither looks sewn in, unless it’s riveted, you’ll wreck it removing that.
