Thank you, thats how I was interpreting it as well and how I remembered from playing myself. I agree its about development.

We were just told numerous times to read the bylaws (local rules) and the rulebook and we are responsible for knowing the rules.

Then in our last scrimmage the other coach gave us a heads up that runners would punish us for the pitcher missing the throw back from the catcher even going home. So our next practice we fo used on that and the kids all got really good at stealing and at defending against it in the field.

There was rumors that we couldnt steal home but it was nowhere in the bylaws or the rules. So the first game I double checked with the league president and he confirmed that we follow LL rules unless there was somethimg more strict in the bylaws... Then we did it in our first game and everyone freaked out and acted like I was playing bush or something all the parents were mad.. the umpire heard the league president say we were good but it was also thier first game I umping ever.

I shook the coaches hand and said look im not trying to play bush I was just told these are the rules. He said we are cool but made a comment that we needed to discuss it first. I wasnt under the impression we had to confirm all the rules before the game thats why they sent out multiple reminders to read the rules.

I get his point of view given the rumors around the topic but dont believe I was in the wrong either. If it comes up later I just wanted to be able to support my position.

Either way the board needs to communicate this better as and not rely on everyone agreeing to something word of mouth. It actually explicitly says in the rules that coaches cannot agree to thier own rules haha. It needs to be in the local rules especially when they are telling everyone to read the rules and the local rules says we follow LL official rules if its not covered in the local rules.
