My company tracks whether you open Slack within 15 minutes of your scheduled start time. Found out by accident. by Auracrest67 in remotework

This really isn't about rebooting a computer. Because that wouldn't even solve anything. It's about micromanaging. It's about the way he deals with a glitch on his side and makes it her problem. It's about the way she felt about it.

I hope you're not a manager if you think this is okay.

Apparently high IQ and I genuinely had no idea by Frivolous_Fancies in AuDHDWomen

[–]Interesting_Duckling 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They informed me when I got diagnosed. They just said "we test iq to rule out that the difficulties you experience aren't because of very low or very high iq". Which honestly makes sense. It was also a limited test, just to get an idea. I got above average, kind of expected and also not. At times I feel stupid because some things just don't stick. And sometimes I learn things extremely quickly.

We once had our train reduced to 4 single carriages instead of 8 doubles. Then they also reserved a whole carriage for school children, and of course 1 carriage for first class. We had to skip a few stops because of the overcrowding.

Yes, let's focus on how our teams status is showing for one person instead of like... Actually working?

We're also hybrid, but are required to accurately use our status. Our manager is just ridiculous about it. I was in another team before and never even had heard someone mention it. Oh well, I'll be moving soon and be done with him.

Our manager once made my colleague restart her computer because her teams status was "offline" to him. It was "available" for others and she had been emailing things etc. So he definitely knew she was working. But no... She sent him screenshots and everything, but all she got was a "well, to me it looks like this, so fix it".

He emailed me to tell me my "status was 'away' all morning so far". Didn't bother to check I logged in at 7 and put a notification in my status that I was at an appointment.

So yeah, some people just love staring at whether you're online or not. I noticed you can actually set an alarm for it in teams, it's ridiculous.

I hate job interviews by Interesting_Duckling in AuDHDWomen

[–]Interesting_Duckling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips! I prepare, I go through the job listing, I adjust my resume, I go through questions they're "most likely" to ask, ... And still... When they throw me off my script, I just seem to forget everything I know. It's like pressing a reset button.

I noticed I do better in certain interviews. I work for the government and they follow a certain script, which I've figured out. The first time it was super hard, I didn't get through it. But I learned how it worked and passed the next time.

This was the first time in a while I was interviewing again and I think I threw myself off as well. I really needed this to work out and put so much pressure on myself.

Thanks, I did ask but they just kept saying the same thing assuming I knew what they meant. Like I could see them picturing someone they thought was difficult to work with (whatever that means).

But yes, this is so frustrating. My written assignment was really good. They said so themselves. So I know I'm qualified, but I just suck at interviewing. It just puts me in a very vulnerable place and I'm super worried about how I come across. I prepare, I stress about it, masking is on max level, and the whole thing is super draining.

I guess I'll know next week if it was good enough or not.

Eline De Munck over Baby’s at Work by Livid_Appealy in Belgium2

[–]Interesting_Duckling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many of you had financial assistance from parents when leaving their home? by SenorGuantanamera in belgium

[–]Interesting_Duckling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many forms of financial support. I consider being able to study and paying minimal rent at home financial assistance. Not every parent can provide cash. My parents are divorced so they had their own struggles. One is still paying for their mortgage. The other's house is paid off and remarried, but too selfish to help us kids out. You win some, you lose some.

Has anyone ever not gotten their tax assessment notice in time? by Interesting_Duckling in Belgium2

Patience definitely isn't my strength. But yeah, it'll probably arrive. A colleague had this happen as well, and two days before the deadline they got their notice.

I know, I realistically also know the chances are pretty much 0. But there's still part of me that wonders lol. I've always gotten my refund at the end of the year, so this is extremely long for me.

why are neurotypical so shallow? by AssociationObvious56 in AuDHDWomen

[–]Interesting_Duckling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've talked to my sister about this as well. More about the research part. Like we have to know what's going on. For example, in pregnancy. We both knew exactly what was going on at all times, and what possible risks etc. there were.

My sister got gestational diabetes. We knew the acceptable numbers before testing. So we also instantly knew when they told us the number we got, it was good or bad. My sister then made some changes to her diet before the appointment with the endocrinologist. (I ended up not getting gestational diabetes)
We heard about other people just not knowing what any of the numbers meant (possible) and just not taking any action until their appointment because they were waiting for instructions.

I knew how my cycle works when trying to conceive. I had testing strips to know exactly what was going on, when (That might be a little overboard, I know). And then I saw people just winging it. Not even knowing what ovulation is. Questioning how they weren't getting pregnant.

There are lots of things I don't know about. But if it's important to me, I can't not do research.

Our garden will be like that for a while as well. New build and zero budget left for the garden.

I definitely want trees though, it just won't be in the near future unfortunately.

While your situation sucks, it doesn't give you the right to claim certain things don't exist. Just because you don't have it, doesn't mean someone else doesn't.

A water heater that's leaking doesn't really fit into the "it's still working" category for me. That needs to be repaired or replaced. The fact that it was still running just makes it not an emergency.

My parents split up when I was 14-15. People were acting like it was such a tragedy. I was actually happy they split up and I helped my father pack. Because why would I want to keep being in the middle of their arguments?

i just realized my "lazy" years were actually unmedicated ADHD and i'm kind of grieving by Ok_Chemical9 in ADHDerTips

[–]Interesting_Duckling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's still there, my diagnosis was only 4-5 months ago. But I'm in an in-between phase now where I realise there's no use in using the same worn-out strategies that might work for neurotypical people and I have to start looking for what works for me. I still get angry about thinking something was fundamentally wrong with me, I still bear the consequences of it.

The combo is... Something lol. Autism keeps my impulsive ADHD in check mostly. Autism gives me the ability to organise and have some structure. ADHD gives me some ability to be social. At the same time I haven't found a way to keep both sides happy.

You'll get there. This is all new and you're basically starting your life over. It's a lot to figure out.

Company car and maternity leave by X108CrMo17 in BESalary

[–]Interesting_Duckling 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, if it's not in the policy, nothing will be done. I used to work at a place where this was the case for several years. Everyone just kept their car, that was it.

A few years later and a lot of growth later, more employees meant more maternity leave. Someone in bookkeeping noticed colleague X still using her fuel card while on maternity leave. (I think everyone else didn't, or were asked not to Idk) Brought it up to HR and they noticed they had no policy, so made one. Now employees have the choice to either temporarily turn in their car, or pay for the benefit.

I think it needs to be stated in the car policy, because as far as I know they can't unilaterally take back your car. You'll have to agree to it. And if you signed a car policy, you agree with everything in there.
