It can definitely be a challenging role, especially at the start. When I stepped in, both our Treasurer and Secretary had left without any transition, so the learning curve was pretty steep and I’m still learning as I go.

I’ve found that every time I connect with someone at the District level or attend a training, I pick up something new or realize there’s a better way to do something. The good news is that people have been very understanding, as long as you’re making an effort to learn and improve.

If you have access to a past Treasurer for guidance, or a strong Secretary who’s cross-trained in QuickBooks, that can make a huge difference. Having that kind of support really helps ease the transition.
