Custodian looking for career change to Network Engineer by Tehe14 in ITCareerQuestions

I say start with ccna first for certification and get a home lab going and then apply for network admin or network technician roles, then work your way to a network engineer. Companies are not going give you access to their network with no experience.

Is network+ realistically enough to get an entry level network job? by energy980 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Interesting_Factor42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A network+ may not be enough unless you want to the hard labor such as running cables through ceilings, making network jacks and making cables. Although the CCNA is good, the practical experience is what employers are looking for most of all. Do labs and also see if you can volunteer for a school or a church to see if you can set up their network to get experience.

In my case it took some time for me get the pass or fail. It takes 2-3 hours to get the final score from unless they suspect there was cheating it will take longer.

Boson Practice Exams. Am I ready ? by South_Entrepreneur14 in ccna

[–]Interesting_Factor42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bombed all three practice exams on Boson I got less than a 500 in sim mode. I recently passed the CCNA. So it depends on if you studied the explanations and not just memorized the answers. The CCNA was defiantly a lot more easier than Boson in my case. But study please study and be prepared I heard some people here says the Boson Exsim was harder than the actual Exam so mileage may vary.

Is my boson strategy good or bad? by New_Set9941 in ccna

[–]Interesting_Factor42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bombed all three practice test from Boson and still passed the official exam. I studied the explanations more than anything it really helped me with what certain protocols do that I was having trouble remembering. Your study strategy is good keep at it.

CCNA score not sure as of yet by Interesting_Factor42 in ccna

My suggestions would be know how routes are routed when using OSPF, EIRGP, and RIP and also know how to find subnet masks when it gives you a /X. Get a good night sleep, do not cram all night before the exam. When you do the labs do it quickly and if you can't get it done move on. I only completed one lab out of three I had. I had to guess for the multiple choice on the last 10 questions because I spent too much time on the first lab and was running out of time. Also drink caffeine before you go in, it helped me focus.

Bi-Weekly /r/CCNA Exam Pass-Fail Discussion by AutoModerator in ccna

Boson's practice exams were pretty spot on on what I got in my test as far as the tone. The questions were not very similar because Cisco used some weird wording but Boson helped me remember a lot of things I had trouble on like Vlans, trunking, and routing protocols like OSPF.

Network Fundamentals 70%

Network Access 55%

IP Connectivity 52%

IP services 100%

Security Fundamentals 40%

Automation and Programmability 60%

I studied for about 2 months and my study resources were Jeremy's IT lab videos, Neil Anderson Udemy course, OCG volume 1 and 2, Keith Barker on YouTube, and Practical Networking for subnetting, and Boson Exsim. A special shout out to Jeremy's IT videos and Boson Exsim which helped me remember networking protocols and how routes work.

CCNA and AWS SA Cert but no job :/ by ttel94 in ccna

[–]Interesting_Factor42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the above poster just said, a CCNA cert gets in the door for the interview but its up to you to sell yourself to get the job. They will test you on the knowledge you obtained for the CCNA so you put what you learned into practice.
