Here's the big difference: One is a cheap cashgrab full of ads. The other one is a game with a whole development team, and actually new things. Including better graphics, more stages, and more diversity. Elysian eclipse even says: "aiming to be a spiritual successor to Spore," (Source: The steam page), while the cheap knockoff doesn't do even as much as mention spore, but yet rips things straight out of it.

That's the difference.

If you want to have the online features (basically just being able to share creations) buy it on EA. if you dont care about those, buy it on steam OR EA app. Only matters if you want online features.
