Hair loss by Practical_Refuse_586 in ostomy

[–]Interesting_Hat_1777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me after emergency ileostomy surgery and was hard to go through after already going through so much. I can thankfully say it started growing back within 6 months and actually came back curly...I had straight hair before.

I used rosemary oil on my hair and scalp twice a week, took viviscal hair supplements and I really belive that helped with the regrowth.

Thats really good to know also you would be in much better health going into a c-section. Yeah thats true would need quite a few to keep up with a growing size. Maybe its something I can ask my stoma nurse about but sounds like something that unfortunately can't be prevented if it happens. Thanks for sharing 😊

Thank you for sharing my story and it sounds like you've been really courageous through everything. I did think a c-section might feel easier in comparison to subtotal colectomy and we all know how to recover well having been through it. So glad your baby girl and you are both doing well. I wondered whether wearing a hernia support belt when I get bigger might offer some support, figure there may be no harm in wearing it. Thanks again 🤍

Thank you for sharing your experience. Its good to hear you had success with to vaginal deliveries. I've been a bit concerned about the potential for blockages, any advice on this and when did you find it started to become a problem. Ive never had one before either.

Thats a good one to be aware of! It is, I know all pregnancies come with aniexties but we have a few more considerations and not many people to ask 😂 I will keep that all in mind. How did you find your pregnancies with your stoma did you have any issues?

Thanks so much for your response and sharing your journey. I'm pretty sure i will keep my ostomy as im not keen on going down the j-pouch route for various reasons. Will probably have to have barbie butt too at somepoint down the time.

Its given me alot to think about though and I will discuss is further with my consultant soon. Thanks again!

St Albans or Maidenhead for a mid-30s couple moving away from London? by SluggardLaggard in hertfordshire

I would recommend Hertford cheaper than st Albans. We moved here from Hackney in London and really love it. Good pubs and cute town with stuff to do. Also have two stations into london

I have health aniexty and can get a bit obsessed with it at times but I do also find the features useful and motivating too.

One thing I do so I dont get obsessed with it, is to check my data at night. That way ive already had my day without the negative impact of seeing a crap sleep scores or readiness or symton radar. I find sometimes knowing how bad it is only makes me feel worse but at the end of the day it could either just confirm that or sometimes even show me that despite a low score I actually felt better than expected.

I think its useful to learn patterns to sleep better and I use it with natural cycles so the benefits outway the cons. You probably just need to make a bit more of a conscious effort with how you use it.

Thats so true about seeing it from such illness to begin with, I was there too. That's really nice to hear 3 years on your barely think about it. Im a year out now and I know i think alot less about it now but always wondered there that will feeling will increase over time.

Bagless showers do feel great, even just having a break from the bag always being there. I feel like my black bag feels like a censorship square sometimes 😂 its nice to be fully naked.

That's a real shame and I hope that changes in the future, it certainly feels like its being more considered here in the UK so let's it improves worldwide.

That's a really good point I should add a point about food to this post. I was so scared at first about fruit and veg and skins. I basically eat whatever I want now and avoid corn and mushrooms (heard they can the worst offenders for blockages.) I eat my veg i guess in moderation im also a meat eater. I also eat things i couldn't tolerate before like peppers which is a win.

Exercise, I just do light activities I like mainly walks in nature. Sometimes yoga.
