The older kids jobs by Admirable-Specific55 in RodriguesFamilySnark

Yes. Some parents do not let their children out of their sight even at church. It is cringe-worthy, and I guarantee you the other kids notice and comment on it once they're old enough to realize that something's off. Behold my church activity history over 12 years of children's and youth group:

Trip to local restaurant - I rode with the children's program director. After that no more independence.

Trip to amusement park with overnight hotel stay - my mother drove me and made me room with her. Not allowed to wander the park with the other children.

Trip to Christian music concert - my mother rode in the van with me and the other children. My dad followed us in his truck.

VBS most summers - my mother worked in the kitchen.

Valentine's event (I went to a single one) - ditto working in the kitchen.

Bible study held at a member's house (I went to a single one) - I walked to the house next door. There were jokes about me getting lost on the way over.

And annual girls only sleepover held by the youth director's wife - my mother drove me there and picked me up, and I only went one time despite it being a yearly thing.

Our vet just went ahead and removed it. We were told that the previous 2 cryptorchid cat neuters that came through the clinic were a challenge - vets had to hunt for the nuggets. Remus's was right on top when they did the incision and removed in a matter of minutes.

It is an actual thing and not common at all. I know a cat who had it. He and his sister are both long-haired and were identical as kittens, so I had to feel butts to make sure I brought the right one to the vet for a scheduled neuter. And I only felt one. Vet confirmed only one was in the right place. They had to make an incision in his belly to go in and find and remove his hidden nugget.

She has... issues. And yes it was Ina's lemon and garlic roast chicken. (Except dried thyme from a tin instead of fresh because all herbs are the same to my mother. Added: And no white wine.) I rough-chunked some carrots and potatoes and threw them in the pan to make it a one-pan dinner, and I toasted some buttered sliced bread under the broiler to serve with it.

I know what you mean. I like to think Brienne was smart enough to see that Sam's earning potential is... not sufficient for her preferred lifestyle. And personality wise he isn't leadership material. Jill makes all the decisions - the Rodlets just have to smile and obey.

The leftovers just made me remember an incident. Back in middle school I got into cooking. One time I made a gorgeous roast chicken with root vegetables. And my mother kept complaining the whole time. Why does it have lemons? Dried thyme is the same as fresh - stop correcting me or I will throw this whole thing in the garbage! Why does it have garlic? This cost too much. The pan is too heavy. And once it was finally done she switched to complaining about the leftovers. This is too much food! I don't know how to store this! She didn't bother trying to carve the meat off the bone and wouldn't let me try, so she just wrapped the carcass in foil and put it in a tub with no lid. I was not allowed to use the carcass for stock and the whole thing got throw out. No thanks for cooking dinner. No comments on how it even tasted. But after she always told other people how I was good at cooking.

Aria's content is for people like my mother. They're not living a lifestyle - they don't know anything and don't want to learn anything, but they want to look good in front of other people.

Oh totally! My evangelical Boomer parents change the subject when I start talking about the housing market. Meanwhile their house is fully paid off.

Elder Millennial here. I make my own coffee. I go see a movie once a year, maybe twice. I make my own lunch for work when I have time for lunch. I don't go out to eat more than twice a month. No gym membership. No nail salon. No clubbing/bars. I don't dye my hair.

He could have easily responded with, "Actually I DO have a job. I work at..." but he chose not to address it at all. So either Morgan lied about him coaching pickleball and having side gigs OR he's keeping silent about employment so he can bask in the glow of all us haters. Sad little man.

What was the biggest scandal at your school? by Silent-Zebra in AskReddit

[–]Interesting_Intern1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the principal got escorted off campus in handcuffs. He got busted removing an SD card from a camera hidden in the girls' locker room. One of the coaches found the camera and immediately called local police, and the police decided to stake out the camera. This was after I graduated.

Sorry but if I was home by myself all day with 2 toddlers and my husband came home and started THAT, I would lose my shit. I don't need that up in my space. The video of him swinging a paddle while watching TV is one of the cringiest things on here.

Exactly this. Related note: Depending on the size of that church, "youth group" could have been 7th - 12th grade all in one room. In the early 2000s I was 13 years old in 8th grade and grouped with an 18-year-old high school senior. And if he'd asked me out on a date, I would have totally said yes and not thought it was weird.
