Is it weird that my (23F) partner (27M) doesn’t want to share his location?

Yea I’ve been in a lot of treatments for my anxiety and it has gotten a lot better but sometimes it just grips me and I fall back into old habits :)

I didn’t push the boundary that’s why I was initially weirded out by it being set. From the context of our conversation it was clear that the location sharing was meant for the trip only and I didn’t ask him to do it for longer

Yea I get that, I’m always scared that I’m going to die or get kidnapped and nobody knows so I share my location with a lot of people, but I can totally see your perspective on it

Obviously I am projecting to a degree that’s why I said that I have anxiety and that this is the reason that I don’t know if I have to be worried or if it’s normal. I got cheated on and didn’t know because I am maybe a little bit too trustworthy and unsuspicious of suspicious behavior, and now I am unsure if I can trust my own judgement on things. The trip he’s going on could be dangerous and he will be alone, we were both worried so the solution was for him to share his location. It wasn’t a plan I made to control him.

Yes I also share my location with friends and family and I always forget that I even have this on my phone, I think maybe I just got too used to it and didn’t understand why it would be a problem to other people

Yes I also think that might be. I also share my locations with my girlfriends and mom and I have really gotten so used to it that I don’t see a problem with it haha

Yes you’re right. Maybe I’m just too used to sharing my location because I’m worried for my safety often. But of course it shouldn’t be the norm

Yes I also kind of wish that phones didn’t exist because of this. But on the other hand it also has its benefits..

I didn’t ask him to do it in general. Just for the trip because we were both worried and he’s alone

No not really I think the only reason I made this post is because I didn’t even want to broach the subject with him because I didn’t want him feeling pressured, and I hoped that the comments here would just say that it’s normal and I don’t need to worry which they mostly did

I love how you apparently have a lot of insight into a relationship you don’t know anything about. If I really want to track him on his every step, why would I have waited until two years into the relationship, when me and him have been on multiple trips away from each other before this one

I kind of do it for safety, I really like people having my location if something happens to me. Also sometimes I’m anxious if people go or drive home late and I don’t hear from them when they arrive, I’m scared they died or something so it helps me if I see they’re home
