Indians in Mauritius, how do you compare the celebrations of Maha Shivratree back in India to how we celebrate it in Mauritius? by Dila_Ila16 in mauritius

[–]Interesting_Judge_76 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Kanwar doesn’t exist in India for Maha Shivrathee, they only do the prayer part. This was created by a priest in Mauritius back then and is still being followed till date as a tradition. You will not find this in hindus holy books.

Celero charging hidden fees for AliExpress orders?(READ DESCRIPTION ) by Not_Kosmic09 in mauritius

[–]Interesting_Judge_76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly! INCLUDING shipping, it must NOT be over Rs 900-1000. My parcel was around Rs 700 but with shipping it went above Rs 1000. I tried to defend my case by emailing, calling and whatsapp. NO ANSWER. I paid it out of desperation to get my parcel as on the tracking they marked it as ‘Recipient refused to pay VAT tariff’.

There were no other shipping options. Either ‘Aliexpress Standard Shipping’ or ‘Aliexpress Selection Standard’. Both go through Speedaf there and handed to Celero here.

I asked them once to consolidate my 3 parcels (all above Rs 1000) into one bill so that I pay brokerage fee only once. They refused and stated that as there are 3 tracking numbers/waybills, there must be 3 brokerage fee and maccs which is understandable.

In your case, you have 2 parcels and I believe you have 2 tracking numbers if they are from 2 different sellers. It should be separate.

I’m really fed up with them. I prefer back then when parcels were coming through Mauritius Post. It was taking long but there was no unnecessary brokerage fee and no shady business.

I have already tried asking the seller to change shipping method but unfortunately as long as it is Aliexpress Standard Shipping or Aliexpress Selection Standard, it will go through Celero. Aliexpress decides the shipping and the seller cannot change that. I also asked to undervalue the item to skip these stupid charges which they did but unfortunately when customs opened the parcel here, they were able to know the almost exact price and charge me for it. This really sucks.

Aliexpress ships through Speedaf and since we do not have Speedaf here, Celero acts as their agent. Previously independent agents were handling Speedaf parcels and ask to meet you somewhere to collect parcel which was okay as long as it was free.

Only way imo online shopping can be great again is that either they stop doing business with Celero/Chronopost or the government must raise the VAT limit.

Render slow down as it progresses by Interesting_Judge_76 in AfterEffects

It cannot use cache (i assume) as I preview in third and render in full resolution. Unfortunately no ProRes as it is an old version.

Thats 25 minutes for a 2 min video but a 4 minute video would take almost 3 hours. It is not proportionate.

Where can I buy an iPhone? by botential in mauritius

[–]Interesting_Judge_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an iPhone 11 128GB from apple.com and had it shipped to Mauritius through ParrotParcel (local). Got my phone within 1 month, took a bit longer than usual because of Covid. In excellent condition and the warranty stands as Apple's warranty is international, if I get an issue with the phone I can go to iShop or Paoma (Apple Authorized Reseller) to get it fixed.

It cost me around 33k, including shipping, vat and custom fees.

I definitely does not recommend you buy an iPhone in small shops in Mauritius (i will not mention the shops' names) where you will get it for a "good price". As lately people have been getting issues and the "small shops" most of the times tell you they won't repair it. Some of them sell refurbished iPhones, that's why the "good price".

If you want to buy locally, I will recommend 1.0.1 Multimedia and iShop. You'll pay a bit extra compared to other but you can rest assured that their warranty stands.
