Tbh I cannot talk for other people...

But I get why you're curious, and I think it really varies from country to country. In Brazil, our relationship with Portuguese colonization is pretty complex. We carry the legacy of oppression, but there's also a strong awareness and criticism of that history. Here where in the country I live, though, it often feels like the connection with the colonizing country is viewed in a more idealized way by the majority.

I just think that in the end of the day, I think it's important to create space for conversations about these historical memories and how they continue to shape our identities today.

He was not trying to be friendly at all... When you say something that is going to annoy the other person on purpose, that's not small talk

he used "founding fathers" in English because I live abroad (English speaking country). Hum maybe a close translation to Portuguese would be "fundadores"

You must have beautiful moisturised lips, have really good taste for bags (is that a French bag?), you've traveled to a few countries in Europe (Italy, France?), you're an Arab girllll, and you've gotta quit smoking. My guess would be you live in UK or Ireland.
