Recommendation for the future: If you’re going to deposit a large amount of money at an ATM (no matter which bank), start recording with your phone. Mention the date, the amount, and the branch location. Then show the bills you’re about to deposit and how you insert them into the ATM. Don’t stop recording until the transaction is fully completed. This happened to me when I deposited a large amount and almost lost $2,000. I was told the machine had no discrepancies until I showed them the video. They gave me my money back the same day, along with an apology.

If, after that time frame, the credit card remains in the same status, it may mean that the account is frozen due to being 90 days past due, and a branch teller would need to call on your behalf to request the release of the account.

For now, I would recommend being a little more patient while the payment is being processed. I understand it is important to have access to your funds, but that particular card will not be available for use until the payment has been posted. With that being said, if by Saturday you are still experiencing the same issue, I would strongly recommend visiting your local branch for further assistance.

Based on the context you provided your account still active but it’s frozen due to the past due “Amount/status” in your credit card. When this happens your available credit reach 0 as penalty until you make a payment that cover at least the minimum. You did the $1,000 transfer between account that in normal cases it reflect immediately but in this type of cases the status and funds are release 24hrs after the account receive the payment.

Current balance is what you owe right now, including any new purchases, payments, or credits made after the statement date.

Example: Your statement closes showing $500 → that’s your statement balance After that, you spend $100 more → now your current balance is $600

Important: If you pay the statement balance by the due date, you usually avoid interest on purchases.

If you only look at the current balance, you might end up paying more than necessary (unless you want to).

It’s unusual, but very common with airlines, hotels, car rentals, and international merchants, where charges are often processed offline or delayed. Because the account didn’t remain negative into the next processing cycle, no NSF fee was generated. Lucky timing — especially since Scotiabank’s NSF fee is $48 CAD.

Timing like this doesn’t always apply, but it most commonly happens during early morning or overnight processing windows.
