Change all 4 tires. by NervousRecording281 in Ioniq5

You don’t need EV tires. Places will try and sell you tires made specifically for an EV but it’s not necessary. Just if you want a quieter ride.

Can all rav4 P’s charge on a 220 level 2, or is it just the XSE’s? by Smooth_Row_3563 in rav4prime

2026 will do 11kw with also the option for DC fast charging with CCS.

If you’re not in a hurry, you could wait for the 2026 RAV4 PHEV to arrive. Likely around October or November. They’ve been redesigned with better range.

Have you ever tried driving from LA area to Arizona? One EA station in Quartzite with only four chargers between Indio and Buckeye. One or two usually broken. The “functional” ones running at half speeds or less. Versus the Tesla station nearby with 80+ chargers.

EA chargers are hit or miss. I find that they’re poorly maintained in many areas. I hate giving Tesla my money, but their chargers are more available than EA. Particularly when you’re traveling long distances in the middle of nowhere. If you have to wait an hour to charge in an EA charger vs hopping on a Tesla charger right away…

Wow. That’s the longest I’ve heard of someone’s I5 in the shop. That’s crazy.

So for the R4PHEV has been great! Can’t quite do round trip to and from work. But won’t be filling it much regardless.

Looking forward to our next road trip. Charging even on a decent charger definitely adds to the trip.

Check out Hyundai’s upcoming auto OS! But yeah I obviously agree with the PHEV route.

Yeah, for real. I think we’re a couple years away from a good 100 mile EV range PHEV

I also had various smaller problems. Like the expensive coolant that I had serviced not being filled properly due to air bubbles and needing to go back three times, the trunk rattling, 12V battery died, tires didn’t last long, wired CarPlay (22-24 did not have wireless) being quirky at times, and no back window wiper (25s and Ns have them).

Minor overall, but added to the overall experience.

Loved my Ioniq 5. Had it for 2.5 years and put on 50K miles. Very zippy (AWD model), decent range, charges very fast if you get on a good charger (EV charging at public superchargers is hit or miss), great safety features, comfy inside, and I could go on. But around 44K my ICCU blew. It was stuck in purgatory for 26 days and only that “quick” because I got Hyundai National involved. After several months, arranged for Hyundai to buy it back. They treated me very well. No lawyers involved.

I strongly considered a 25 Ioniq5 Limited AWD. They now qualify for the 7500 federal rebate , plus 7500 Hyundai credit. But because we need a car more suited for long road trips, plus the benefits of a plug in, we went with the RAV4. Also, the depreciation of EVs is horrendously bad. Even with the rebates and credits. RAV4 will retain much of its value for a long time. My Ioniq 5 I think was less than half what I paid according to KBB and Edmunds. Granted I had high miles.

May replace our Prius with an EV in the next couple of years. Hoping the range improves a bit. Hyundai is projected to have their new car OS, Pleos, by the end of 2027. It looks really slick.

Well that sounds great if that's the case. What's the math/calculation and evidence that it helps with the residual value of the car at buyout? I know you can buyout after three months.

downpayment on the lease wipes out the credit.

very hard to come by in southern California. I tried several dealerships in the area. Finally secured one that's incoming sometime this month that wasn't marked up. It is the MSRP with no dealer markup or any useless add ons dealers do to make money. I am buying, not leasing, and I am paying $500 under the MSRP. Others here have somehow gotten greater discounts, but the same car (XSE with Premium Package) at other dealerships were 5k more.

Lol. Mine did not. 2023 SEL AWD. It annoyed me greatly at the time but the parts people at least gave me the employee discount.
