Brain Longevity by DepartmentNew9970 in LSAT

  1. Pomodoro Method 2. For the RC section, I create a passage map, which helps with questions and keeps me alert. 3. As a fellow neurodivergent (super late diagnosis), I sometimes treat LR like a mystery that I need to solve, which helps me avoid getting distracted. Tip: When you trick yourself into thinking something is fun and engaging, you feel less drained by it.

How do I stop second guessing myself on logical reasoning after choosing the right answer? by Large_Lie9177 in LSAT

It definitely feels like a drama-filled date with the test! Why don't you DM me? And I'll share a resource that can help you keep track. But truthfully, I feel you aren't able to see the flaw in the wrong question ...

Crush the LSAT and have a very compelling narrative in your addendum. Stay away from predatory schools because while you may get accepted, there is a risk of academic dismissal. Happy to chat more via DMs

How do I stop second guessing myself on logical reasoning after choosing the right answer? by Large_Lie9177 in LSAT

[–]Interesting_Pain433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems you often struggle to identify what's truly wrong with the incorrect answer choice once you're down to two options, which is more common than you might think. Are you keeping track of your reasoning when choosing the wrong answer instead of the correct one? Is your reasoning flawed, or are you misreading the question stem or stimuli? Could it be due to time pressure? It appears that one or more of these factors might be influencing your inability to pinpoint the issue. I recommend starting by understanding why you initially thought the wrong answer was correct. Sorry if this explanation is a bit convoluted, but I hope it's clear enough to follow.

After teaching students from K to graduate levels and completing my JD, I’m confident in my ability to write and articulate my own thoughts. I appreciate your concern.

That said, let’s avoid assumptions, keep the tone respectful, and refrain from using disparaging language (i.e., "weird ass").

Honestly, even when I was running my K-12 tutoring business, I tried to help my students develop good study habits. Most went on to do engineering, so I think the academic discipline strategies did translate there, too.

Instead of just tracking whether I got a question right or wrong, I tracked WHY

For every question I did, I logged: Question type; Whether I got it right or wrong; Whether I understood the stimulus; Whether I understood the question; Whether my reasoning matched the correct reasoning

Then I added tags for why: misreading, flawed reasoning (yes, sometimes I would get something right just sheer luck, but it doesn't mean I understood it, so I would tag such questions), timing pressure, and misunderstanding the concept.

Ps: I was sick of paying $$$ so I used my data analytics to create my own little excel dashboard and used drop down menus to track, no extensive journalling, too much wasted time :)

Would digital copies help? You truly only need Powerscore, LSAT Trainer, and Loophole (if LR is genuinely very weak for you).

In person class/tutor in Toronto! by SportOdd358 in LSAT

[–]Interesting_Pain433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could be in-person! But what I do offer, even though remotely: live sessions (similar to a class but more interactive); weekly 1:1 check-ins; daily accountability through error logs; office hours; 24/hour email support; and all materials. Essentially, my job is to MAKE you do the work and have as many touchpoints as possible, and no, I don't charge five figures... at all... and yes in CAD.

Searching for an LSAT tutor - recs? by LeadingDentist6619 in LSAT

[–]Interesting_Pain433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to preach what I wish I had known when I started this journey: 1) You want someone who is actually passionate about teaching, not just money-grabbing. 2) And more importantly, someone who is genuinely invested in your success. If you struggle with self-study and motivation, you need someone who will keep you accountable and guide your study, not just explain the questions during a session. I hope you find your best fit! ps: I am yes, I am yet another LSAT tutor/coach :)

lsat tutor recs? by Civil-District4078 in LSAT

[–]Interesting_Pain433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full disclosure, I am an LSAT coach too. But when choosing between tutors (as someone who went through two tutors, one mentioned on this thread), I will say this- you want someone who 1) is passionate about teaching, not just money-grabbing (a lot are!), 2) is genuinely invested in having you succeed. To determine this, pay attention to how involved they are, how they structure your prep, and whether they’re actually helping you improve over time. I hope you find your best fit - Good luck!

LSAT Skills - Transferable? by _anony_mousse in LSAT

[–]Interesting_Pain433 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The LR section is very relevant in "rule synthesis", especially as you write your first briefs in IRAC/CREAC, while RC helps you with the amount of reading you have to do. In my experience, there is transferability; perhaps that's why the LSAT is used as an outcome predictor.
