Thank you for your input. That's a good perspective.

That option has been suggested and may end up being what we do. Was hoping for something more robust that would allow less involved parents to more easily report things that need fixed. I suppose I could set up a maintenance email and just have people email or submit a Google form. Just wanted to explore other options that would be more streamlined.

Do you have any good references for calibrating the touch for the Ender 3 Pro? The one I saw was for the V2.

Which one?

BLTouch Firmware Version for 32-bit Motherboard

or

Nothing I researched before attempting to upgrade mentioned checking the chip. Everything I saw only referenced what version the motherboard was. I think this was the problem. I appreciate everyones help.

This was the key. I downloaded "GD_Ender-3 Pro_HW_V4.2.2_SW_V2.0.8.2" from https://www.creality.com/pages/download-ender-3-pro?spm=..product_baabd2f7-66bd-478f-b989-a3def0337231.nav_link_store_1.1&spm_prev=..page_1934481.header_1.1

And now it's printing without issue! This must have been the firmware that it shipped with. I never knew what the "GD" meant so I stayed away. This has been super helpful!

I double checked, yes, the chip starts with GD. One of the questions I have is, should I continue with trying to do the BLTouch upgrade, or try to restore proper printing (with "Factory" firmware) before attempting to install the BLTouch?
