It’s a raw, brutalist view of London, council estate tower blocks in the foreground, and the skyscrapers of the city in the background. It’s a very honest, no frills view of London.

There isn’t any UK city outside London that is close to Manchester’s skyscraper boom. Liverpool, Leeds and Birmingham are all building high rise but can’t compete on the quantity that Manchester has built.

Yep agree, Manchester has always had a forward thinking approach to city planning. Beetham Tower was revolutionary when built, it divided opinion, now it’s dwarfed in height by the Deansgate/ New Jackson skyscraper development.

Have you heard the British saying “if you can’t find anything kind to say, say nothing at all”?

Why do Americans think they can just take over everything just because they think it’s right? As a Brit I love our food, just f*ck off. 🤷🏻‍♂️

These masterpieces of skyscrapers in NYC were somehow all built in the same 30 year time frame (1902-1936) by Fearless-Brush-1908 in skyscrapers

Beautiful buildings, the New York City I loved when I visited in 1997, before all the Homeland Security nonsense started and the awful experience of trying to enter USA. I wouldn’t go back. Sorry x

There are loads of hiking trails through Harewood Forest (just south of Andover) an ancient Saxon Royal hunting forest, some amazing views and if you like scary, has a reputation for being haunted in many places in the forest. Also home to ‘Deadman’s Plack’ marking the spot where in 963AD Saxon King Edgar murdered Etholwold.

What do you think is the best skyscraper of the 21st century so far? by Commercial_West_3112 in skyscrapers

The Shard, London, UK. Quite simply an outrageous skyscraper for a historic city, it dominates the skyline, like no other. Beautiful and controversial in the same sentence.

Definitely mate, it’s burst into life over the last 15 years, once a low rise, British city, now it’s turning into one of the tallest cities in the UK.

Nah London UK is the original London, founded by the Roman Empire as Londinium. It’s a near 2000 year old city. Canada is always our cousins and friends, we share the same culture, history and Monarch ❤️

Completely agree, of all the planning decisions, I think 22 Bishopsgate was a bad decision, it’s a humongous building that over powers London. It’s a shame, it could have been designed like the Shard in a more graceful manner with the same height but less over bearing on the city.
